WORRIED – OK
During the week hubby and I were talking and he said something about getting faboodled sometimes. So of course I am now worrying that he is losing it. How will I cope with him if he starts forgetting. I had such a difficult time with my mother. Would I do better now. I dont know. I want to think so but I wont know of course until and if it happens. I woke up in the middle of the night and hardly slept after. It is only nine and I have done everything. I had breakfast. Im showered and dressed. I cut up some fabric – starting a new quilt. I worked on my scrapbook for awhile. I have the attention span of a two year old. Now what. I cant go shopping as I have no money. Maybe I can get some friends together for a card game but most people dont arrive till alte afternoon. It might be a very long day.
I think Ill go paint some eggs. I was going to leave it for hubby to do but I need something to do.
We hear so much about Alzheimers these days that I think it’s a normal reaction in us, when we have a few really forgetful or “faboodly” days, to start worrying if we are getting it! But the fact is, it really IS normal to become more forgetful, and it’s normal to occasionally just be confused, too. It certainly doesn’t mean we are destined to go downhill from that point onwards! :o) !! I have totell myself that at times and Joe and I are a lot younger than you two are. And I think the worry is gonna be greater if a person has ever had to help care for a loved one who really DID suffer from Alzheimers or dementia. When we do anything remotely like that loved one did….we worry “oh-oh!!!! is it our turn now??!!” But I think most of the time we’re worrying un-necessarily! hugs, Weesprite

I read that gingko biloba is supposed to be good for the brain and helping memory loss. It is worth a try, it can’t hurt and might help.

I agree with your first noter. I have some days where I get faboodly too. It is just some days I may a little tired or been busy and so just need to take time for myself and then am feeling better. Love,

The possibility of dementia is a fear we all live with, I think, for ourselves and for others. But we can only take one day at a time and accept the small “faboodles” we all have from time to time. (I do love that word; have never met it before!)

it would be worth him getting a checkup, but meantime try not to worry….many of us get moments of forgetfulness and confusion as we age….it might be nothing more than that. I hope so…. hugs P

thanks for your note. I do understand that life can get in the way of this on line stuff.

forgetting is not as big a problem as people make it. The KEY is knowing what tools to use and using them. IF a person is forgetfull, they need to use journals, diaries, notes, sticky notes, and the computer. Youcan use emails to remind yourself of things that you need to remember. In the kitchen, use timers and microwave ovens instead of using the stove or oven. Enlist the help of others There are MANY tools that help people remember. I have no short term memory due to a car accident, but I use EVERYTHING to help me remember that works.
