WONDERING-read
I am wondering why so many people have chosen NOT to be anonymous here……………………………so many are putting up pictures etc. I for one will remain as anonymous as possible so I can be free to write whatever I want about whoever.

I’ve been here almost six years… I started out wanting to just be anonymous, but gradually opened up more. I try not to let out too many details, but the longer I’m here, the harder it is…

Hmmmm — I put up pictures, but I still bet you couldn’t FIND me — hoping so, anyway. 🙂 Hey, with something like 160 million people in this country alone, it might be a real chore to find a certain face… 🙂 But anyone who is interested is welcome to try — it would be an awful lot of trouble, just to find an old woman.

Hi! I am anonymous here except for meeting people in Vegas and a few telephone conversations with wonderful people. I wonder if it is because people are finding this is a wonderful community and are becoming more open? All of my favorites and people I have met here are so wonderful!

I always figured axe murderers didn’t keep diaries. 🙂 RYN: Thanks. I think I’ll do a multiple picture post next week.

I don’t care who knows what about me, Ginger. Mind you, if some of the people in my own small neighborhood here were likely to find this, I would write a lot more sparingly or be more anonymous. But how likely is my next-door neighbor, a chicken farmer, to find my open diary identity? 🙂 and would he care, if he did? People close-by who I am actually friends with already know who I am, etc….

…what I do, what I believe, etc. I’ve been writing very openly on the ‘Net for eight years and always said outright who I am, where I live, etc., including posting my picture, and I’ve never had any trouble at all, which says a great deal, since I often post somewhat controversial views. But there’s nothing wrong with you being anonymous either. It’s just a matter of choice. hugs, Weesprite

I decided it was okay to put up pictures because (a) anybody who knew me and read my diary without pics would know it was me anyway, (b) I set my diary to be read by OD users anyway, and I’m sure nobody in my near circle of family or friends is on OD and (c) I have nothing incriminating in my diary. Personal, sometimes, but nothing to really hide. Does this make sense? Good question you asked tho!

Oh I just wanted to add…. here, and on my few discussion groups, I have met some wonderful people. The friendships I form here (and there) are very real, and I like the way my friends and I share one another’s lives. Sometimes I get to actually meet friends from online and that has always turned out good also. hugs, Weesprite

I’ve never been anonymous on OD. I already had an online journal as me, so I didn’t see any point in it. If I write something I wouldn’t want anyone to see, I just make it private. What’s the old saying, “Different strokes for different folks.”

Although I write for myself, if I had pictures to put on my diary of me I would do so. Being that the option is available. I think of most of my readers as friends even though I have not met them, yet. Be well,Monica

I am anonymous here too, but I put up pictures because I don’t think that there is any possible way anyone could find me. It is easier to relate to my favs. after seeing what they look like. Then you can kind of picture them while you are reading them.
