WONDERFUL PARTY

My guests left just a short while ago. We all had a wonderful time. We were about 28 people. Two didn’t come because they had a cold. I’m glad they were considerate of everyone else.
We started off with potato and zucchini latkes. I also served hot dogs in blankets and mock chopped liver. Everyone sat and talked. Hubby served wine. People were sitting in three different rooms so it wasn’t too crowded.
Then we lit the Hanukah candles. I served supper – delly – a lot was left. I told hubby we didn’t need so much. We ordered three delly platters for thirty people. I knew many people eat half of nothing. I told people to take home whatever they wanted. Luckily I don’t plan to make another Hanukah party so we won’t have any problems with ordering and or left overs. I think some people just don’t like to eat delly!
We played a game. I think it was called Yankee Swap. It was a lot of fun. Then a friend played the accordion. People sang and clapped along.
Finally they started to take their loot bags and leave.
All in all we had a wonderful time. My house is upside down but my cleaning lady is coming in the morning.
My daughter’s boyfriend leaves tomorrow afternoon. In the morning he wants to go back to Sawgrass and then we’ll take him to the airport. My daughter leaves on Thursday.
My friend at home is getting worse. I get nervous when the phone rings.
Hope everyone had a peaceful Christmas. Wishing you all a good night.

It does sound like a wonderful party, even with cringing whenever the phone rang. I know that’s hard for you.

Your party sounds like such fun! I’m glad it was a great success. I find it annoying when people come and I’ve made a lot of food and they don’t eat much and don’t want to take anything home!! ryn: thanks for all your notes! I enjoy hearing from you. Re: my arthritis….I don’t have much pain even though the MRI showed the arthritis in my neck is “severe.” I just have to be careful how I sleepon it! hugs, Nicky

Happy Hanukah Ginger!!!! Sadly, your DIL may never see the light, but it is good that you said your piece. You carry your family in your heart and you always want the best for them. It would be nice if the ones who have baggage would wise up! Well done for your daughter to clue in. Enjoy your rest after your party, and I envy you taking stained glass classes!

It sounds like a really fun party.

That sounds like a wonderful party! We stayed home this year and had our celebration of the season. It was nice and low key. I think I like low key. RYN: Thank you so much. I do what I can for them and work hard to ensure they learn what they need to learn. I just hope they can learn from me and pass it on.

It’s can be tricky knowing how much and what kind of dishes to serve at a holiday party. You’ll have all of this upcoming year to figure out what you want to bring to the party, rather than worrying about how to make the party 🙂 I’m so sorry to hear your about your friend. *HUGS*

It’s funny, you are comfortable alone and with groups! Most people are fine with one or another… ryn: I had been napping, so wasn’t thinking clearly, but next time… I’ll call the super for sure.
