WHAT WOULD I PRAY FOR-edited

One of my favorites, Woodsprite writes about attending a SWEAT LODGE. I don’t think I could ever last in one as I hate the heat and humidity. Also I don’t think my health issues would even allow me to try but I thought it would be fun to write about what I would pray for if I was in one. I think the experience would be a great cleansing one for both body and soul.

Air round (which has to relate to the mental realm) I would pray for peace, that is peaceful thoughts. I would pray to be content.

In the Fire Round….having to do with passion and drive…. I would pray to find PASSION for something to dedicate my life to. I seem to be interested in lots of things but I would prefer to be passionate about one thing so I could concentrate on that.

Water round….having to do with emotions…. I would pray to be in more control of my emotions. I would pray to be happy and satisfied with my life.

In the Earth round….having to do with the physical plane…I would pray for the strength to keep exercising. I would pray for the ability to be more "at home" in nature.

Spirit Round….I guess I would pray to more spiritual.

OTHER PRAYERS: not sure which round they would be in

I would pray for peace for the world.

I would pray that people live their own lives and allow others to do the same.

I would pray to have the discipline to eat properly – not to be tempted by JUNK!

I would pray for my children. I would pray that life treats them well.

I would pray that I could find a GOOD friend – one who enjoys the same hobbies that I do, someone I could trust to share all my issues and ideas and someone who wants the same things out of life that I do.

I would pray that I could control my spendings and could save for special things and occasions.

I would pray for contentment. Content with my relationships and my life in general.

I would pray that my sister has some "peace" in her life.

:o) !! In our sweat lodges we do not pray for others, but only to make changes in ourselves. Ours is the Wiccan sweat lodge. In Native American lodges, though, there is a round for praying for other people. (Well in ours you may do it too, but that is done in the silent, spirit round. In the first four rounds we pray aloud and the fifth (spirit) round is silent.) Prayers for our physical health, security (financial, safety and otherwise) would all be in the earth round. Prayers for a good friend…. that could maybe be in the water (emotional) round. hugs, Weesprite

oh and I wanted to add, the reason we (Wiccans) do not pray for others is not because we don’t care about others….we just believe it’s not ethical to make prayers for changes in other people. That would have to be up to the other people themselves. But, like, if we were having trouble with another person, we could pray for help in changing our own behavior, so we could deal with the other personmore effectively. hugs, Weesprite
