WHAT?????????????????????????? – OK

Yesterday while listening to the radio I heard that a baby was taken away from it’s mother because she didn’t speak English and I think Spanish. WHAT??????????????????? Does that make any sense? The officials said she wouldn’t be able to save her newborn baby if their was any problem. She wouldn’t be able to talk to doctors etc. How would she communicate with 911?
I think this shows what is wrong with the "good old USA"? Whoever said that the American ways are the only ways? The US forever has decided that people in other countries should be living the way we do. Utter nonsense. There are many other ways to "skin a cat!" I sure hope the mother gets her baby back!

Seriously? There had to be more than that there are thousands of babies born in the US to Mom’s who don’t speak English.

I don’t believe it. Especially since everything here is in Spanish/English just about. Most of the kids I have taught through the years came from homes where English wasn’t the first language. There is much more to this story than the mom didn’t speak English.

I wouldlike to see the WHOLE story in print where it was written. I suspect this-the baby was taken for other reasons and someone “ran” with the idea it was because of the language. Here in America that does not happen as it is written. Before they take any children away from ANYONE–even from obvous abusers, they find ways to help the children in their OWN homes. So, it is highly UNLIKELY that the language was the only problem. Can you give the link to the story ? thanks.
