THE SECOND SEDER-read
All in all I think our second seder went very well. We were about twenty three as two people didn’t show up. The table was long and stretched from the dining room right to the end of the living room. We had taken my plants upstairs and moved the two lazy boys right to the sides of the couch. There was plenty of room for all. I called it for five thirty. People came, ate some snacks and talked.
I had some friends who had never been to a seder before so I added a lot of commentary. Towards the end I thought people had enough so I skipped some, not the regular reading, but the commentary. We sang some songs and played with children’s instruments. The adults really enjoyed themselves.
After the meal we continued with the seder. The adult kids at the end of the table were talking so I kindly asked them to have some respect and listen or go downstairs. I don’t know how they felt but I just get so angry when adults talk while we are having the service.
Anyhow the seders are over for another year. Tomorrow morning my sister goes home. It was a great visit. We don’t see eye to eye on many things but we still get along and I guess agree to disagree. She wants to move into a smaller apartment as they are paying too much rent and have NO money for anything else. I don’t know if she can convince her husband. He is such a bastard.
Tomorrow I will bake some chocolate chip matzo farfel cookies for my son. I also have to go to the hospital to give a urine sample to see if my bladder infection is gone. I have loads of washing to do too.
Haven’t been to a seder in a long time. We used to have “ecumenical seders,” which blended Christian tradition with Jewish tradition. They were very special.

I need to go and look up what a seder is and how it is celebrated. You’ve got me curious 🙂

Hee hee — it is true that people need a little prodding to learn how to be respectful — after all, this is a religious ceremony. I’d think these people could realize that for the length of it…. good for you! 🙂
