THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS-ok
Tonight hubby and I went to the movies. He saw TRANSPORTER or something but I went to see THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS. I highly recommend it. I think these type of movies should be seen by EVERYONE! If you think you might go see it then don’t read the rest of this entry because I want to write exactly what it was about!!!!
It was about the war. It was about a German family. The father was a soldier. He was transferred from Berlin to be in charge of a concentration camp in the country. It shows how the mother and wife of the soldier are very upset by what is happening to the Jewish people.
Anyhow the German family moves to the country not far from the concentration camp. Actually it might have been a work camp. There is a difference. Jewish people who were strong and could work for the Germans were worked and starved to death!!!!
So the little eight year old German boy is bored as he has no friends. He starts to explore and discovers how he can escape from the compound they live in. He runs through the forest until he ends up at a barb wire fence. He meets a little eight year old Jewish boy on the other side. He is sitting by the fence with his head bowed. Right behind him are some stones which hide him from the rest of the camp. They sit and talk together. After the first meeting the German brings the Jewish boy something to eat everyday.
To make a long story short the German boy is going to move because his mother cannot stand what her husband is doing and wants to be away from the horrible place.
On the day before they are going to move the German boy runs off to say goodbye. When he arrives at the meeting place he see that the Jewish little boy is upset because he doesn’t know where his father is. The German boy realizes he can dig under the fence so decides to join the Jewish boy the next day and help him find his father!
The next day the German little boy runs off to the meeting. The Jewish little boy has striped pajamas for him so he could pass through the camp like him. He strips and puts on the striped pajamas. He crawls under the fence and they run through the camp calling for his father. They enter a barrack and all of a sudden they are forced outside and marched with others to the gas chamber.
All this time the German family is searching for their son. They reach the fence and see his clothes. But it is too late. You see how the men are forced into the gas chambers, told to undress and are all put to death.
This is a very disturbing movie but I have seen many others and I have also been to the camps and seen the gas chambers etc. in person. In the next entry I will tell you what I wrote in my paper journal as I waited for my hubby to come out of his movie.
