STILL IN POLAND-read
Today was a very long and difficult day both physically and emotionally. We traveled to Aushwitz and Birkenau. While we were there we walked from one camp to the other. There were thousands of people from all over the world. TURKEY, FRANCE, AUSTRALIA, BRAZIL ETC ETC. There were several survivors who told their heart wrenching stories. It was a sad day. We toured the camps. We saw stacks of luggage that were left by the Jewish people when they arrived at camp. Other things collected was HAIR, SHOES, KITCHEN UTENSILS AND POTS AND PANS ETC. ETC. When the Jewish people arrived they had to strip and get naked. After they died their gold teeth were extracted. HORRIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We saw the ovens where they were cremated.
So that was my day in a nutshell. Tomorrow we go to Treblinka. Remember you can go to March of the Living 2008 website and see what is happening.
Take care my friends. No time to read but maybe just maybe one day.
Wow, that must be quite the trip. Educational, and emotional. Enjoy,. Sounds like it is a once in a life time trip, that most people wish they could take. *HUGS*
