OBESITY IN THE US OF A-ok
Yesterday while shopping in the US I was shocked by how obese many people are.
While hubby and I were having lunch there was a couple with their two girls having lunch too. Well they were all overweight BUT their youngest daughter was WAY overweight. I felt so sorry for her. I wasn’t sure if it was a physical problem or what.
I did hear her whine and her father went and bought her an ice cream. She was eating a hot dog and now she had chocolate ice cream and a soft drink!
The little girl just waddled away with her family. I must admit I was disgusted by the way she looked. She needed someone to take her in hand. The poor thing going through life like that.
RYN: We only do one Seder and it will be at my husband’s brother’s. What about you?

Yes… and taking a look as an outsider, after living away from North America for so many years, it’s so shocking and sad. Here in Turkey, there is no obesity… none. Everyone is trim and looks a healthy weight. No diet plans, no Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. Just controlling food intake and exercising. I get embarassed and ashamed when I see/hear the stats.

I agree. Overweight kids almost always have at least one overweight parent. And yea, the kids are going to go through life this way, and it is a handicap. It’s bad for their health, and society will often treat them cruelly as well. Society says a lot about the bad effects of parents smoking, BUT, it seems like nothing is said about the bad effects of parents making their children grow up obese.
