MY VISIT WITH THE DOCTOR-read

So I went to visit the doctor.

She suggested I go back to the psychologist. She says my problem is probably two fold – a chemical imbalance so she prescribed Paxil. Anyone know about this drug? I am not sure I want to start another drug. I will call the psychologist I went to a few years ago.

She said there was a blood in my urine. She thinks it’s a bladder infection. I left another sample and will call her on Tuesday for results.

She referred me to another doctor to see if he recommends a colonoscopy. The last doctor said I didn’t need one. Does your doctor recommend colonoscopies?

I need a mammogram. She also told me to make an appointment with my gyno for a checkup.

My sugar was ok. So was my blood pressure and cholesterol.

I mentioned to her I lost weight but she didn’t say anything. I thought she would be happy. I think I lost over 20 pounds. I am under 200. It’s hard to believe. It’s sad that the only way I lost was because I wasn’t feeling well.

So that was the visit.

Shortly after I got home my daughter-in-law came with my grandson. My daughter made supper – the salmon was very good. She’s so slow, though. Not like me. I’m fast like my mother was.

Once they left about eight I went for a nap. OY! I’m all slept out.

I don’t know anything about Paxil or any meds, really….but am glad your doctor’s appointment, for the most part, went really well. Maybe the weight loss is just something to be happy about (even though it did come about because you weren’t feeling well). Here’s wishing you a happy day! hugs, Weesprite

SOrry I don’t know about paxil. check the PDR .nurses edition at barnes and nobles or any big bookstore.

Sounds like a good visit with the doctor. I’m up for my first colonoscopy this year as I’ll be 50. I’m scared to death.

A very good friend of mine was falling apart and trying to hide it.For a year! Her doctor put her on Paxil and it has restored her to her usual, happy self. Now I find out that several of my friends are on it and they are doing great. Juan has a chemical imbalance, but is on a differnet med.It won’t hurt you and will smooth things out so you’ll be “you” again.

THe blood in your urine should explain why you are very tired and a little under the weather. Your body was fighting off an infection. I am glad he/she is giving you Paxil. My hubby is on Zoloft and it has helped him tremendously!!

I was on Paxil once, it did make me feel a bit more normal but the sexual side effects were not too fun.

I tried Paxil and I was only on it for 3 days cause it gave me awful headaches and nausea and I felt spacey. I’ve heard it’s hard to get off of it once you’re on it awhile. Some people experience weird withdrawal. As for the colonoscopy…my doctor recommended I get one cause I’m 51 but I’ve been putting it off cause I dread it. Have a good weekend.

its good they are doing a colonostopy if there is blood in your urine…they are being very thorough. great too that nothing serious to worry about for you…and congrats on the weight loss. A loss of appetite is often a symptom of something more sinister, but you seem to be eating ok now I guess. take care and don’t worry, the psychologist is a good idea. hugs

Have you had a hysterectomy? If so, think several times about a colonoscopy. I had a sigmoidoscopy (less invasive than a colonoscopy) and the Dr. punctured my colon to my vagina. YOu have NO IDEA the problems THAT caused. (Two major surgeries later and a damaged ONLY kidney) Still, my Sister-in-law had colon cancer because she didn’t go have one and see about blood in her colon… so you can’t win

I took paxil for a while and it got me through a bad time. However, if you start, come off it very slowly. There are some weird effects to go with coming off it too quickly.

Colonoscopy. You should be having them every three years. I have them every year but I am a cancer survivor. Fred’s recent surgery was because a cancerous polyp was found.

ryn: yea, the same goes for me. Especially since I quit my job, I feel like I ‘should’ be doing something of value EVERY DAY or I start wondering if I’m a useless bit of humanity….which is stupid, but knowing that doesn’t always help get rid of the feeling! hugs, Weesprite

Paxil is an antidepressant which has shown to be effective in the treatment of depression, social anxiety disorder, panic attacks, OCD and post traumatic stress disorder. I assume in your case it is depression? I would suggest you get the book The Essential Guide to Presciption Drugs or find it at the library. That will answer all your questions about drugs.

RYN: I work for a bureau and she advertises the work out for $7 an hour plus she gets a $5 fee, good job for her as all she does is take phone calls. Not bad pay considering all I do for most of it is watch TV! and sometimes I do my painting which I sell, so I can do 2 jobs at once!
