MIXED EMOTIONS – OK
My hubby will be leaving for Florida in a couple of hours. I have mixed feelings about being here alone. I use to LOVE it. Today I am not so sure. I know I will enjoy the days alone, without worrying that I am out too much etc. The thing that bothers me the most is sleeping alone in this BIG house. I am afraid. I get so disgusted with myself because I am not a baby a toddler or a teenager. However maybe if I was one of those I wouldn’t be afraid. We have an alarm system so what am I afraid of. I have a panic button near my side of the bed. Anyhow I will do my best every night.
I am slowly getting organized for the day I leave. I am continuing to get rid of stuff. Yesterday I got rid of some purses and pants that I haven’t been using/wearing. I am piling it all up near the front door so the cleaning lady can take it.
Tomorrow is a busy day. I am going to my son’s ex for Halloween. I still have to get a costume so will do that in the morning. I also want to get a satellite radio installed.
I have to return something to Costco.
I am trying to arrange a BUBBY day with two of my grandchildren. I am too busy so it’s a struggle to find a time for the two of them.
I also have to make an appointment for a pedicure.
The next two weeks will be very hectic. I have to think about packing too. I could probably start packing my summer clothes. I have to pack carefully as I will need more clothes for the trip down as I will be in NY a few days. My daughter is very busy so doesn’t have time to plan out plays etc. As I told her I have too much time to think and she has none.
I am still getting on the treadmill forty five minutes a few times a week.
I am still NOT eating after supper. Most nights it is not hard at all.
I am still working on my daughter’s scrapbook. I know she will be so excited.
I better get back to sleep. Morning is just around the corner. I want to get up to say goodbye.
I think it’s natural to be anxious when staying alone when you’re used to not being alone.

That is SO great that you have an alarm systemand a panic button, excellent. ! Good job! You are sensible. You are afraid because you read the news. When we read the news we get afraid. Fear is a good thing. If you weren’t afraid you would not have the alarm system and in Today’s world, it is great to have an alarm system. I will give you another note on how you can be less afraidwhen your husband goes away. Read my other note.

NOTE 2. I am a life coach, and I am used to helping people with their problems ,if I can. I have some suggestions that might make you feel less afraid or feel more comfortable. These are some suggestions. 1. Always remember that you are not alone. God is with you, by your side. He is the strongest person in the world. I know, you told me that you do not believe in God,. However, I need to remind you that GOD is with us EVEN when we do not believe in Him. And that is a fact. 2. On a more practical note, if you are still afraid , at night. YOu can do this tomake yourself less afraid. Do not shut the lights. That is right. KEEP your lights on. In your bedroom, keep the light bright when you sleep, and just put an EYE shade over your eyes. You can sleep soundly in the light and the light will make you feel more comfortable EVEN though you have the eye shades on. 3. Of course, keep the panic button right near you. Now you know you have help in an instant. 4. As for the lights, I do not know what you are afraid of, but if you are afraid of burglars, they NEVER come into a lit room at night. See they LOOK for darkness to cover them

4-continued. See cowards like to work in the darkness and that is why if you leave the lights on , you can make yourself quite comfortable. If you like and if you are feeling especially nervous the first night or so, feel free to leave ALL your lights on ..yES..all of them every single light in your house. Look, this might sound all silly to you or sound expensive too, or sound rediculous to you, but doing these things DO help people feel less afraid and more comfortable. 5. Of course, do not watch the news before going to bed. This will give you relief. Listen to soft music. OR watch an uplifting dvd or a spiritual tape. Do this and this will sooth your mind. 6. You can go to sleep with headphones on with uplifting soothing music. Do any of these ideas help you? If so, then use them. If not, lol, then tell me that you need different ideas. Have a nice, peaceful dayand night. YOU are not alone. If you get scared, come online and talk with us here. We are here sometimes -not all the time but sometimes. peace.

yes, we wrote that long private note. lol, when I say WE, that is just me. I use we for security and safety, I write as if there ismore than one of me because hackers bother those who are alone, lol, and most times leave US –more than one –alone. and yet in reality, I am not living alone, I live here with my son. I am a grandmother. My son is Wonderful, a real scholar and good guy. So that’s just a little about Us.. me peace.

If you want to try my ideas and you have NO eye shades, just take a clean towel, a hand towel or guest towel and put that on your eyes when you sleep.

i don’t like being in this house alone after dark. it’s not a bad neighborhood but i’m afraid to be alone at night. it was so difficult for me to learn to sleep alone in the house with the lights out. at first, i had a light on in everyroom. now, i’m down to only a night light in my bedroom. take care,

Perhaps you need a dog. I used to love having my black lab when Owl and I were apart. Maybe one of your boys or a friend has a dog you can borrow for the nights?

I think it’s natural, when you’ve been married a long time, to feel apprehensive and vulnerable when your spouse is gone. As women, we trust that our husband’s will take care of us. We never think about security because we don’t have to. When they are away from the home, however, we are suddenly faced with our fears. It’s then we can truly appreciate our mates, isn’t it? As for the charities…what a great idea about leaving a collection can or jar set out to drop change in! When our daughter entered college, my husband and I began selecting a family from an “angel tree” to buy presents and food for throughout the holiday season…
