MEMORIES
Today I went for lunch with a new friend. She’s actually a friend of a friend. She has been very friendly so I decided I could use a new friend. I don’t know if we will ever be really close but for now it is someone new to hang out with. We went out for lunch at a Greek restaurant. The food was very good – it included dessert – some type of sponge cake which I actually ate the whole thing.
Then we went to the DIRTY bakery. The pastry etc. is actually delicious there. I think it use to be dirty many years ago and the name stuck. I bought some cookies for the grandchildren, some potato knishes and a cinnamon danish for our bridge group next week. Of course I froze it.
Next we went to take pictures of the area where my SIL use to live. I took pictures of their home, old school, synagogue and the bakery. I think they will enjoy seeing them. At least I hope so.
Then I took her home.
I went to a used store like Salvation Army where I bought a bunch of books for four dollars each to sell on AMAZON. I realize that I bought the wrong type. I also spent too much for each one. I should go to garage sales. I should sell my own. I bought paperback fiction. I should have bought non fiction! There was a book of ELVIS’s music sheets which I should have bought. Maybe I’ll go back. It’s hard for me to know what would sell on EBAY or AMAZON. Anyhow I listed all the books. There are so many for sale I probably won’t sell anything. How’s that for being positive???? NOT!
I put our barbecue up for sale. Now that I know how to include pictures I’m trying to sell whatever I can on Kijiji. I asked 229 and got an offer for 120. I counter offered for 170!!!!! I suggested he come see it. I hope it sells. More money for my trip to NY.
Next I stopped by Bureau En Gros to buy a mouse. The one I had died the other day and I couldn’t stand using the mouse pad. I bought a cute pink one to support breast cancer.
This afternoon another agent came to see the house. I will have to make sure it is perfect or close to it before I leave.
I came home and made supper – nothing special – just an omelet and salad. My son came. He’s been coming more often lately as he’s anxious to talk to us about his job. I’m not sure if I wrote this before but his boss cut his salary. My son should leave but wants to stay……………………
So that was it. I did some scrap booking and then went to bed early. I thought I would sleep better since I didn’t nap yesterday but I am still up at 3. I will go back to bed after I write this entry. Have a peaceful night and an enjoyable day.
sounds a good day….pity the “Dirty Bakery’ is still know as that…obviously it isn’t dirty any more. hugs P

Yay to new friends!! Four dollars a book seems too much to me. Do your libraries have book sales?

Selling on Amazon or Ebay has a learning curve. Books are very competitive and yes, I’m afraid $4 each for a paperback book is too high. The book sellers that are successful have inventories of thousands of books & make their profit in volume. You need to spend some time just browsing through Ebay, etc to get an idea of what people WANT to buy & are looking for – try to develop a nitch market. And be prepared to invest the money to gather an inventory.

Good to make new friends, I am trying to do that too. If you have a lot of books to sell, why buy more? Try selling the books you have already and you are not going to get that much for used books, it is volumn that counts not price. If you can sell 10 books at $5 that’s $50 but if you can sell 100 books at $2 that’s $200!

my friend sold books on half.com whih is a branch off e-bay in which you can use your e-bay account. I guess no matter how long your stuff is posted you don’t have to pay fees until it’s sold. On there he sold books for 99 cents a piece. It’s best if you buy large boxes of books for cheap at garage sales or it’s not worth it.

I have never used Ebay but my hubby has. Good luck with the selling.
