JUST MY THREE CENTS

I don’t think every child should go to university. I think parents should watch their children closely and see where their interest lie. For example if a child is interested in cooking and baking maybe the should go to a cooking school and learn to be a chef. Why waste time and money at university where the degree might get them only a piece of paper?
I think if a child can build furniture she/he should be a carpenter. He could make a better living than if he just gets a BA at university.
So that’s my three cents for better or worse.

I think so too. They should go where they shine. Unfortunately, I shined in music. There is no money in music.

I agree!

I agree too, 100%!

Yep but it is so hard to get a professional position these days without a college degree.

I agree! It’s every bit as noble and good to become a craftperson or some other kind of skilled worker, as it is to have a university degree! hugs, Nicky

I agree. Further education is beneficial to many but there will always be a need for tradespeople and regular skills. I am reminded of the Coolidge quote that includes ‘the world is full of educated derelicts’. Neither of my kids did university ( although I did a couple of years of it myself as an adult student)….and they are both highly respected, contributing and well-rounded adults now.<br> hugs P

You’re right.

i think so, too. jason was good at carpentry and wanted to have his own company. a college degree wouldn’t have helped him at all. take care,

You are correct however the society says differently. Alot of resumes get over looked & tossed aside without a college degree on them. Trust me.. I know from experience! It sucks!

I absolutely agree with this!

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. Let the child follow their own hearts in deciding whether or not to go to College. One might want to be a nurse, another a seamstress or maybe a chef. I have a grandson who wants to play professional sports. Hope he gets a chance if that is what he wants. Love,

I agree too!!

In our city and in large bustling cities, every child should go to a university and after that they can take their specialty schools. It’s just necessary in our cities. There are thousands of applicants for one job so the MOST qualified then must have something ‘estra’ to get the job. College (a good one) is a necessity. Learning to get alongat college, to grow, to play and to be with ‘the world’ is an excellent experience. For small towns, perhaps a specialty school might seem like the answer..but just our opinion, college or even ANY kind of college i.e. 2 years etc, or specialty college course–that’s the way to go in large large cities

We have noticed –being in more than 19 states and in Canada that each place, though the same is very different. Perhaps there are a few towns where college is not a necessity . On the east coast, college is like bread and water…very necessary for life

lol….I have not got a degree from college, though I have attended MANY college courses (i.e. paralegal courses, etc, business courses). I still YEARN for my college degree and I am sixty already. this might not be something that I am able to do, yet it is one of my heart’s desires. I have been to the white house, been to national and international events, and have metcelebrities from A to Z, yet, inside of me, I still feel something lacking because I have no degree , only a high school diploma and many speciality schools certficates and diplomas, (tv, photography, journalism, etc, )

4. LOL, I even have my certficate in hypnotism and health sciences … yet yet yet… where is my college degree.. well, someday, if this is meant to be, this is meant to be.
