I MADE AN EXCITING COMMITMENT

Last night I made an exciting commitment. I didn’t give it too much thought but I am so glad I did. It will be hard work and fun at the same time. I committed to coming to Toronto on October 22 so I could make an old fashioned Friday night supper for my nieces and nephews. We were sitting with them at the wedding. Talk shifted to Friday night suppers at my mothers. My daughter always wanted to watch me prepare certain dishes like my mother and I do. She wants to video tape me making supper. That’s when I came up with the idea of coming here to make supper. They all have young families. They are busy working so I told them I will come here. I will bring EVERYTHING needed for the supper. So we will invite either 18 or 26. I have to speak to my niece and nephew. I don’t think my children will come from Montreal but that’s the way it goes. Hopefully they’ll change their minds. I know they are working and the kids are in school. I am NOT a great proponent for school when the kids can have a more valuable experience which this will be. I think the bigger problem is that the adults would have to miss work. Anyhow whoever shows up will have a great family experience. I have decided on the menu. It’s years old. I will prepare some of it at home and bring it here. The rest I will prepare at my niece’s.
I told hubby if he wants he can leave for Florida from here. He is planning to leave at the end of October. We will be here until the 24/25 so he can just leave a little earlier. It’s up to him!
So that’s it.
Hubby’s brother is sick and very weak. My SIL is exhausted and totally run down. She has a lot of help but not enough. It is a challenge keeping help, taking my BIL to the hospital etc. She is also starting to worry about money. He retired many years ago.
So not sure what I’ll do tomorrow. I will ask my SIL if she wants to get together while my hubby is with his brother.
It got so cold here. I usually bring long pants and sneakers just in case. Today I didn’t. I wore socks with sandals and hubby’s jacket. I must have been a sight.
Take care. Have a good night. Hubby is already sleeping.

What an awesome thing to do for your family!! I love the way you care for and do things for your family and care about preserving family heritage. I agree, kids would learn a lot more from this family experience than from school. I hope they can come. hugs, Nicky

That sounds like a wonderful idea. What will you be cooking?

The dinner does sound like fun. Getting off during the school year is impossible for me due to being a teacher. I hope it works out for you with your family.
