Yesterday I took my grandson to the park. While we were there I met a young mother with a 20 month old. I thought she was young about twenty but in the end she said she was forty!!!!
Anyhow she told me that she had picked up her son early from daycare because he was upset and this goes on almost every day. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She also told me that she has a NANNY at home and she doesn’t work.
I couldn’t believe it. Here she was following her son around making sure he didn’t get hurt and making sure my grandson didn’t hurt her precious son. I lost it! I said why the hell are you sending him to school or daycare or whatever if you and your nanny are home!!!!!!!!! I was so angry and upset and she knew it. I didn’t care. I told her we live in a fucken society and she shouldn’t be pressured by her rich stupid neighbours. Does she think the teachers or whatever they are are going to be following her son around the park when they have ten other kids???? I hope I opened her eyes.
Her hubby  wants him to socialize. WHAT?????????? 20 months!!!!!! I pointed out that my grandson and hers were at opposite ends of the park!!!!!!!!!!!! I told her to take him to playgroups. She said she gets tired. I asked her why she has the NANNY??????????
Boy was I ever MAD! She was probably sorry she came to the park. She kept saying that she was thinking about keeping him home. I hope so.
I can see if parents REALLY have to work to buy food and pay rent. The time we stay home with our babies is so short!!!!!!!!!! There is plenty of time afterwards for ourselves. And if you are so worried about having a career and having time for yourself DON’T HAVE CHILDREN!!!!!!!! Your life is never your own once you have them.

I agree!

Well I will dissent and say I think you went too far. We never know what other people are dealing with. At the time my son was born, I didn’t have to work to buy food or pay rent. But I did have to work for my own sanity. Life is complicated.

wooohooo , I so agree. Hows he spose to socialise if he is always taken from daycare and followed by a hovering protective Mum. then given to a nanny. it is my job to look after kids while parents work. I do it in my home. I have a 4 mth old and her mum and Dad Have to work , money issues. They make time to come for lunch with her so they don’t miss too much and also roster days off.

They are doing the best they can and they are doing it all for her. I also try to fit in with them as best i can with visits to their work places if they are unable to make it here. They love her , hate to be away but needs must. Everyone has a story , theirs is an unexpected baby after medical advice said theyd have NONE.

She sounds like a nut case — but I fail to see why you were upset, though. There are so many worse cases of parent idiocy. This kid is going to get either a fairly good upbringing, or inherit some money, or BOTH probably.

How did you find the flash toys site you shared in this entry? Did the fortune cookie come from the site you shared

From what she said it doesn’t sound like she has a career either, and she has a nanny to take care of the child so what the heck does she do anyway? These days though you may be surprised how important it is for little kids to go to preschool. By the time they get to kindergarten they have to know their letters and numbers already. But I think age 3 is early enough to start, I think 20 months is a little young yet.

I am sorry you got so upset. I know where you were coming from, though. I don’t think that Mom’s who Don’t work, SHOULD stay with the li’l one. At 20 months, how much socializing does he need? She can take him out and around to socialize!!!!!!! Good for YOU!!!!!!!! 🙂 Big Hugzzz..

In a perfect world parents would realize that one of them needs to stay home with babies.
