I DID IT! I DID IT!-ok
I can’t believe it but I did it! After much screaming and crying and complaining on the phone I did it. Last night I checked my balance of my checking account at Bank of America. I was over about 150. I almost fainted!!!!!!! I was SO upset!!!!!!! I had to call a few times before all the charges were dropped. I just couldn’t believe it. In the Fall I opted out of being allowed to use the debit card when there was no money. They had records of me signing that paper!!!!! What happened is a LONG story but after much phoning and complaining I had the charges dropped. I think it is illegal and disgusting what the bank does. It happened to me a few times last year so I opted out. Here in Canada if you have no money they refuse the transaction. With Bank of America they accept your card. Then they start charging you 35 for every charge that brings you over your limit. It is so disgusting. I guess the woman on the phone had sympathy or knew they were wrong. When I returned home I saw that I had money still in that account so paid a few bills. It brought me over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I learned that the gas companies only charge you $1.00 when you pay by debit card. After awhile they put on the right charge. So after you buy gas and you use your debit card your card is accepted but once they put through the right amount of gas you could go over!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow I learned my lesson. I will not be using that card again. I will close that account and use the new account I opened in the Fall. I am so relieved that the charges were dropped.
My grandson spent the day with me yesterday because he wasn’t feeling so well. He played on the computer and we played WII. He continued to decorate the egg he started last summer.
Today I will do some messages with hubby. My son borrowed my car because his is a total mess and an embarrassment. He went with my hubby last night to look for a new one. He will make a decision over the weekend. We will go to Bureau En Gros to pick up the copies I ordered and some cartridges for the printer. We will also go buy some plastic dishes and cutlery as we are out of many things. We’ll also call friends to see if they want to go out for supper. I don’t have much here. My house is upside down as usual before Passover. Tomorrow my cleaning lady will come to help me change dishes. I think this might be the last year I do it. I just don’t have the energy or interest or belief anymore. I feel a little bad that I have so little interest in the holiday but what can I do. I think the change from Florida to here and the pressure to get ready for the holiday takes it’s toll emotionally and physically.
I have been watching the skating.
I am still working on my Herbalife business.
I think I have lost about 8 pounds but think it may be because I changed scales! I will keep better track now to see if I lost inches.
I finished reading the Leisure Seekers. It was excellent – the way I would like to check out of here.
So it’s back to bed for me. If I can sleep some more fine if not I will get up and start my day. It is still dark out.
If you go inside to pay they put the charge on right then here in Ky, but if you pay at the pump they put the dollar charge on. Might want to try that and see if it works that way for you.

Well done. It’s maddening!!

I hate when that happens! I got an overdraft protection on my debit card so if I go over then they take the money out of that so no penalties. See if your bank can do that.

Good for you!!!

thankfully, i haven’t had any problems with using my debit card. but, then, i’m very careful and keep a good record of all i spend. so far, i haven’t been over on my account. good for you for getting the charges taken off. if you don’t feel like doing the dinner anymore, don’t do it. sounds like it’s too stressful for you. take care,

RYN: We have been married 16 years. I believe the closeness, comfort and understanding we share comes not only from the years we have been together, but also that we each had 2 previous marriages. We learned from the previous experiences and began our relationship by promising each other never to lie to each other–HUGE for us both because of past relationships. Too, we are in our late 50’s. I know that our age and experience in life causes us to value what we have and nurture it.

I also only use a debit card, never liked a credit card. I hope it works out for you with the new account. Yes, we have to sleep eyes wide open when we use banking.

That is so strange about the dollar charge. Over here they charge FIFTY dollars and then later they put it down to the right amount. That’ts shat I have heard. Once I tried to get 14.00 worth of gas and had 25.00 left on my card. They claimed they have to charge 50.00 and then later would change it so they did not allow me to use the card. Debits and charge cards are so wacked rediculous. They have the strangest rules.
