HALLMARK

Anyone know if this is true?

Shame on Hallmark
10/18/2006

This was reported in the Minneapolis tribune October 15, 2006. http://www.startribune.com/465/story/742094.html

A woman in richfiels, a suburb of Minneapolis who was a manager of a southdale shopping mall Hallmark store wanted to spend a night with her son before he returned to Afghanistan, possibly her last night with him ever. Trouble is Hallmark was having a big meeting in Kansas City and all managers were expected to attend. she requested to be excused from the meeting so she could have a last evening around the back yard fire with her son and the rest of the family, not an unreasonable request in my opinion. Hallmark saw it other wise. she was told she was expected to be at the meeting. She made several attempts to get out of it, but upper management would not budge.

Three days before the meeting and her son`s last day with her before shipping out she gave notice that she would no longer work for Hallmark. She is now out of a job and from my perspective Hallmark has a lot of mud on their face. they have this nice little sentimental slogan, "when you care enough to send the best." Well if the people I send cards to think I am cheap because I do not send "the best" too bad.

I will never again purchase a Hallmark product, and I sent Hallmark an e-mail informing them of my decision. They have a policy of responding to e-mails within 48 hours, but it`s been over 48 hours and I have received no response from them other than the automatic response that says we received your e-mail.

I am now going to start writing letters to as many Hallmark stores as I can and tell their managers of this "non caring decision of Hallmark."

I am a gold crown card holder, I just sent this to the corporate address customer service and asked them what they will be doing about this, that no Mother who has someone in the service of their country should have to quit her job, or be denide the opportunity to spend one last day with that person, as it could be the last day they spend with them, as they could come home in a body bag, and how disappointe I am in how this matter was handled…huggs

forgot to say I am making a copy of this to take to the four stores I deal with all the time and make them aware of my disappointment and what they can expect from headquarters if they are in the same position…one lady is the wife of a retired military…wonder how she is going to react…..huggs

I rarely buy Hallmark cards, simply because it’s easier to buy cards at the stores I regularly shop in rather than going to the Hallmark store. I actually saw a former co-worker, once turn a card I’d given her OVER, to see if I had given her a Hallmark card! (That time I had happened to shop at the Hallmark store….but how damn pretentious can a person BE??!!) Any company should realize that there are certain things in life that a person really DOES have to have time off, for. No meeting is more important than this mother spending time with her son was. hugs, Weesprite
