ACCEPTANCE AND EXCITEMENT AT CVE-ok
I had a very good day. Some excitement and a lesson. I realized that it is so important to be ACCEPTING. Maybe we don’t understand but we better listen and accept! If a person tells you they can’t make meals anymore or they are tired it is important to accept their feelings. We shouldn’t tell them they are silly and they slept good the night before so they shouldn’t be tired. We don’t have to understand their feelings. So we just have to accept that they are different from us. When someone says they are cold even though we are warm we should accept the fact that THEY ARE COLD!!!!!! It’s the same with children. If they don’t want to eat more who is to say that we know how much they should eat. How do we know what their little bodies can take?
So my lesson for today is to accept what people say even though I don’t understand.
The excitement today was that a friend came home from the hospital. I was just returning from the pool when I saw my friend bringing her hubby home. He had a stroke years back and she has been caring for him ever since. Friday he was taken to the hospital as he was throwing up etc. He was in the hospital till today. He has trouble walking. He insisted that he could walk from the car but as she was holding him he was tripping over his feet. Luckily I was there to hold him as she ran to get the wheel chair. I feel so bad for her. I don’t know why she doesn’t get help even though he doesn’t want. The woman is sick herself! I won’t be surprised if they end up going back home. Between both their sicknesses I think they should have stayed home. I think I would have. Here is where I must learn to accept even though I don’t understand WHY people want to be here if they are sick. I would want to be home with my doctors.
I have told my hubby repeatedly that if one of us gets sick we get help or we just go into a home. I don’t want hubby to care for me when it gets too difficult. I also won’t be able to care for him without help when and if the time comes. I don’t need anyone being a martyr.
Anyhow I hope everything is ok with my friends. I told her we are here for her. What else can I do?
Time to get ready for supper.
My friend had a great idea today. We are going to buy a small artificial tree and decorate it for Haunkah for my Haunkah party. I know lots of people do it but we never have. I think it will be fun to shop for the tree and the decorations with my friend. Something we can do together. By the way this is the "dinner" lady.
So that’s all folks from down south.
I’m like you, I’ve told my husband that if I ever get sick, put me in a home. I don’t want him running around crazy trying to take care of me.

I think it is because they want their life to be as normal as possible. Or maybe if they are from up north their bodies can’t take the winter.

I believe acceptance of someone else no matter what is a very healing force.

I bet you will have lots of fun shopping for your Hannukah tree and decorations for it. :o) !! Like you, I would want to be in a nursing home rather than have Joe struggle to take care of me. He’s said that he would want to take care of me, though. I suppose this is another way that people are different from one another! hugs, Weesprite

When I get old and sick I am using the exit plan, no one needs to take care of me! Yes acceptance of others is a good lesson. If we all tried to be a little bit more tolerant and understanding, the world would be a better place.

I enjoyed reading what you wrote about acceptance. I agree with you, although sometimes I don’t do it I’m sad to say. We should always accept another’s feelings/ thoughts even though they are not like ours. You are right:)

I think acceptance is one of the most important skills, though at times very hard to do. We don’t walk in another’s shoes so we can’t really understand why they behave the way they do. (No doubt, they often can’t understand why we behave the way we do, either.) Unless what they are doing is hurtful to others, why not just accept?

I think the most important thing is to remember that there can be more than one right answer. Your friends want their vacation even when they’re not well. That’s right for them. Your way is right, too. It’s all in the perspective. RYN: Thanks. Yes, we ended up getting 60 gallons of paint for him. It’ll get him a good way.

its a very important lesson isn’t it? Acceptance would spread to heal the world of so much pain and disagreement if only everyone realised this. hugs P
