????????????????

I figure I should write an entry. I want to write an entry but I really have nothing special to write about. I am getting ready to go to my egg decorating class. I would like to go to a few other places on the way BUT I don’t want to rush so I guess I am not going anywhere before – maybe after. Nothing serious so it doesn’t matter.
I spoke to my sister-in-law this morning. Her daughter had a double masectomy and apparently is doing great. I am so happy!!!!!!!!!! My other niece had the same thing and was in so much pain.
Friday we go to Toronto. We are going to celebrate my great niece’s BAT – MITZVAH.

"Bar Mitzvah" literally means "son of the commandment." "Bar" is "son" in Aramaic, which used to be the vernacular of the Jewish people. "Mitzvah" is "commandment" in both Hebrew and Aramaic. "Bat" is daughter in Hebrew and Aramaic. (The Ashkenazic pronunciation is "bas"). Technically, the term refers to the child who is coming of age, and it is strictly correct to refer to someone as "becoming a bar (or bat) mitzvah." However, the term is more commonly used to refer to the coming of age ceremony itself, and you are more likely to hear that someone is "having a bar mitzvah."

Under Jewish Law, children are not obligated to observe the commandments, although they are encouraged to do so as much as possible to learn the obligations they will have as adults. At the age of 13 (12 for girls), children become obligated to observe the commandments. The bar mitzvah ceremony formally marks the assumption of that obligation, along with the corresponding right to take part in leading religious services, to count in a minyan (the minimum number of people needed to perform certain parts of religious services), to form binding contracts, to testify before religious courts and to marry.

A Jewish boy automatically becomes a bar mitzvah upon reaching the age of 13 years, and a girl upon reaching the age of 12 years. No ceremony is needed to confer these rights and obligations. The popular bar mitzvah ceremony is not required, and does not fulfill any commandment. It is certainly not, as one episode of the Simpsons would have you believe, necessary to have a bar mitzvah in order to be considered a Jew! The bar or bat mitzvah is a relatively modern innovation, not mentioned in the Talmud, and the elaborate ceremonies and receptions that are commonplace today were unheard of as recently as a century ago.

My two sons are coming too which is great because we have so much family there and seldom see them. My grandson is also coming. With atleast thirteen great nieces and nephews I am sure he will have a funtabulous time. I will probably be staying a few extra days as my BIL is suppose to have open heart surgery next Tuesday. My sister will let me know tomorrow if it will happen on schedule. If it does I will stay a few days with her and hubby will go home with my son. I will stay at my sisters once my BIL goes into the hospital. I have two minds about staying to support my sister. When I needed help/support with my parents I NEVER got it. I was alone!!!!! I know she lived out of town and it wasn’t easy for her to get up and come in. On the other hand I was left to deal and pay for everything. On the other hand I LOVE her. She is the only one left from my immediate family. She is a nervous wreck all the time so I know she can use my support. Her son will be there for the day of the operation. Then of course he will have to go to work. I also wish she would have given me some money from what my brother left. However I realize I am wrong because she needs the money. I don’t. I told my brother to leave his money to his children so I shouldn’t expect anything. It would just be fun to get some extra money.

I emptied my studio yesterday. My SIL and hubby helped so it took us no time at all. Now I have to reorganize my laundry room. I don’t know if I’ll paint in there but atleast I’ll get it ready so I can. The problem is getting paint all over and especially on the carpet when I walk into the playroom. My hubby would have a fit.

My SIL had me watch a DVD called THE SECRET. It is all about the Law of Attraction. Thoughts are things. What you think most about you bring into reality. She is way into this and alternative medicine etc. She goes on and on non stop. There is a web site if you are interested. http://www.thesecrettv.com or you can just do a google search.

So it’s almost ten. I have to leave soon so better get into the shower.

You’re right; your sister, being such a nervous sort, probably wouldn’t have been much help to you anyway. My sister Carol didn’t help me with our brother, and he resented that she didn’t come over and help take care of him, but I kept telling him it would be the last thing he needed at the time!! As for money….ah, I know it’s no fun being left out, but I’m sure your brother knew which of youneeded the money. And if it’s a choice between putting money where it’s really needed or where it’d just give someone some more fun, I guess it’s better to give it where it’s really needed. hugs, Weesprite

Thankyou for this…I always wondered what Bar Mitzvah meant…I thought it was a celebration about becoming a man. I didnt realise that girls celebrate it as well.

Wow — that was a long entry for not having much to write about! 🙂 Yes, your sister has shorted you — I say bless you for being so good to her and the rest of your family. You are a good person.

That’s funny, my boss at the spa just told me about The Secret…haven’t watched it yet though. There is good book about The Law of Attraction called Ask and it is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks. The problem with the Law of Attraction is you still have to do something to get it to work, it doesn’t just happen automatically, you still need to take action, a lot of people just think you can sit around, do nothing and it will work without you doing anything to get it…not really! 🙂

RYN: Sadly, there is no government help.
