Help..!!!
I need advice on tipping movers. We have a 2 bedroom apartment and are moving 450 miles. We are paying extra for next day delivery.
I spoke with the moving company rep and she said it’s customary to tip 20% of the total bill. There is no way that’s gonna happen.
I’ve done some reading on the subject online and opinions vary.
Personally, I hate tipping. Pay your people a fair wage. Tell me the cost of the service and I’ll tell you if I’m gonna buy it.
For the record.. I do tip. I just don’t agree with it being expected.
I think I feel like you. I tip for good service, or if I feel like someone is having a hard time/bad day and needs it, but I don’t ever want them to think it is expected. As far as moving — I didn’t know you were suppose to tip them. Ouch. I think I have used movers and never tipped a dime. I would just go with your heart and tip what you are comfortable.

I would usually give $10-$20 per guy cash on delivery.

RYN: thank you! I really have to start learning how my camera works so I always take good pictures lol

RYN: Yup, still have it. It’s just out of commission right now while we wait to get a new key cut and programmed for it.

Thanks for your note. I don’t get tipped for my job and it’s against rules to receive gifts. I get paid a low wage. So, my stance is–unless you are a waitress or hair dresser (that works for a salon, doesn’t own it), and I know you make less than minimum wage…you get what I have. Sometimes, I only have a buck. It’s better than nothing. Movers make okay wages, in most states. I even stopped tipping dominos delivery since they now charge for delivery. Let them pay them from that delivery charge..okay, so I am mean…so don’t go by me! lol
