Protesting tips
If you are protesting in a state where a ban is in effect, here are some tips.
1. Immediately delete all digital tracking of your menstrual cycle. If you want to continue tracking, use a handwritten log.
2. Cover your face and any birthmarks, piercings or tattoos that can be used to identify you. (This is so you won’t be monitored to see if you need to seek services elsewhere).
3. Go with at least one other person and watch out for each other. Bring snacks and water and a small first aid kit, even if it’s just bandaids and antiseptic wipes.
4. Carry mace or pepper spray if it is legal to do so. Do NOT use it as a weapon, ONLY use it to defend yourself from harm, as becoming violent takes away from the power of the message. (They sell Police grade mace with UV dye that helps identify your attacker at Dick’s for about $20.00)
5. Try to remain calm but loud and clear in your message. If you feel yourself becoming overly agitated, then step away and return once you are calm again.
We have a long road ahead of us, so pace yourself. And if you need to step back sometimes, do so, because we will continue to carry the torch until your return.
