06′ hkiff(2)

well, today is the end of hkiff.

watched quite a lot of movies these days, other than what i mentioned in the last entry, i have also watched candy, snowcake, johanna, le filmeur…

Candy and Snowcake are shown on the last day of hkiff @ CC. Candy is telling a story of a narration from an Australian poet, Dan (Heath Ledger) who falls in love with two kinds of Candy: a woman (Abbie Cornish) of the same name and heroin. The narrator changes from a smart-aleck to someone trying to find a vein to inject, while Candy changes from an actress, call girl, streetwalker, and then a madwoman. Starting in Sydney, the two eventually end up in Melbourne to go clean, but they fail. This leads them to turn to finding money and heroin, while other posessions and attachments become unimportant.

The director has spitted this movie into 3 parts, Heaven, Earth, and the Hell. It describe the heart of two lovers. What urge they go from Heaven to the Earth? It happens after they married. They are always happy in their fiancee life. But after they married, all the things become normal and they think that they are not so happy together. After that, they go to the Hell after their embryo died becoz of heroin and bad temper of the mother. After that, Dan try to be a normal man. He has quit the drugs, found a job… He tried to give Candy a better livings. At last, they separated since Candy goes to psychological hospital. Finally, Candy was healed and find Dan. However, Dan doesn’t want to be with her anymore. He said, just leave the bad and fool past in their memory.

This was a great acting!

.

Snowcake, maybe i make that for short. This is a drama focused on the friendship between a high-functioning autistic woman (Weaver) and a man (Rickman) who is traumatized after a fatal car accident.

Linda (Sigourney Weaver), act as the autistic woman whose daughter died. However, as she has a psychological problem. She always act to be happy and strong. She should be the saddest person but she always telling other people that all of you need to be optimistic. But however, she is really the saddest person.

Alex (Alan Rickman) always trying to help her becoz he think that he is responsible for the dead of the daughter, Vivienne. But it reveals what had happened in his life. His son died also in the car accident. It seems that he is getting what he thoughts when the moment he lost his son.

Vivienne has gone. But it seems that she is the happiest person. yup, she has get off all the things, no more worries, no more sadness, no more concerns… what a blissful person…

The movie reminds people that you have to be optimistic to look at the things. This was also a great acting!

.

Johanna, a film that make audience feel incomfortable. This is a musical film. The story is about a young drug addict, Johanna, falls into a deep coma after an accident. Doctors miraculously manage to save her from death’s doorstep. Touched by grace, Johanna cures patients by offering her body. The head doctor is frustrated by her continued rejection of him and allies himself with the outraged hospital authorities. They wage war against her but the grateful patients join forces to protect her. This is a filmic and musical interpretation of the Passion of Joan of Arc.

At last, Johanna was killed by the so-called “justice” doctors. Is that all the end of all the heroes? Is it the fate of a helpful person?

.

le filmeur, which is a cult film. The director, Alain Cavalier, shotting the things he get, he said, he lived, his thoughts… quite an interesting movie.

This is a movie that i fist watched after i learnt little of French. the dialogues are too fast that i can’t get more than 20 words in the movie.

this year i have not wasted any tickets, which i must waste some before~ hahaha…

and also, i go to buy ticket quite late. but i still get almost all (unless one) what i wanted to see. did the selling situation not well this year?

in addition, there are chinese subtitles for the English movies. I need to thanks so much as my English is so bad…
