[ Let’s hear it for the supermodel ]

Let’s hear it for the supermodel
for her long luscious locks
of sweet smelling hair
chemically enhanced
by the best of the best
(or the most expensive).
Let’s hear it again
for her silent intellect
and her centerfold body.
Worship her and strive
to resemble her.
True beauty hidden
behind Gucci
and Prada
and Versace
and with those names
you too can be so magnificent
and wanted.
Desire sounds so nice, doesnt it?
Desire comes with a price–pain stakingly high.
Let’s hear it for the supermodel
sprawled dangerously across a cold floor
ten thousand a session.
It’s such a hard job
stop looking so pretty
pretend that you’re flawed.
Let the little girls think
that beauty is raw
not flushed with pink lipgloss
and ribbons
and lace.
Not masked with foundations
or marked by a mole.
Let’s capture a lie
and airbrush it to death
perfecting all the things
that make this life beautiful.
Reality.

1st thanks for your note. 2nd. models really aren’t all that bad. I like to think I’m a really good person. I’ve just been “lucky” enough to use the way I look and turn it into money…but, modeling not only affects the esteem of the boys and girls seeing the ads, it also hurts the model. As silly as it may sound.
