[ hungry beneath you ]

Glowing beneath you
reveling in your light,
and yet, in the same breath
that exhales my joy
also exhales my fear.
We lay tangled among ill-intention
and bathed in blue moonlight.
Twisted like lovers would be-but are we not just that?
No-we are separate, you and I.
And this my heart already knows
and tells my eyes to wet the fire that burns my cheeks.
I am hungry beneath you-
and even when I am filled with you
I still want more.
I am parched when kissing you,
even though when our lips collide
I feel completely quenched.
When I remove my lips from yours
almost immediately, a thick wall of truth
settles between us
making no room for my fantasy.
Even Eros himself couldn’t force this false desire
into what I long for it to be.
Cupid’s arrow would surely miss thine heart entirely,
giving me no relief.
This is a feast I’ll never finish,
you’re the kite I long to fly.
Without string I’m rendered useless-
A fool, with just hope in her hands.
You scream with your eyes-
I don’t need words to hear what this is to you.
This silence is deafening
and I am drowing in your arms.
I don’t want to hear my heart breaking beside yours-
I don’t even want you to know it breaks at all.
