Plans

Now after a dash to Big Lots!, some form of modernization or conversion of Pick and Save, for a number of ultra low cost turquoise balls for the tree plus a basket of things for the “Toys for Tots”, we have a blue holiday. Mr. Obsessive has hung blue icicles from every balcony edge. A few balcony bottoms too. Perhaps he is competing with this Portuguese neighborhood where every house is lit the day after Thanksgiving.

Last night we discussed cost. We have thirteen grandchildren and a limited budget. The eldest has joined the Army, and that distance during the holiday will probably make any pittance we send her useful. The others probably wish we could send more, but we can’t if we are to survive the holiday season solvent. My share of Christmas will be based on my six hundred plus any income from the tow yard. Boring but sensible thinking.

We are going to go out on a limb this year and have a small potluck party or two before Christmas. We will be on the Queen Mary haunting her rarely seen corners over the holiday itself, but both of us feel social this year. We are planning a couple of small potlucks with tours afterwards to see the lights. Twice probably. Perhaps Lenora, Mohave, and one of her friends would like to tour our corner of the city in a convertible another night?

Plans…..this year we are reaching out in some small ways. That’s so good of us. We used to have twenty or more to dinner and present exchanges, and I miss these gatherings. The presents were always right around a dollar, and the house was filled with laughter over the scrambled eggs and toast. Then again, the house held seventy and you never noticed how many were actually there. When we moved, for various and sundry reasons we stopped doing anything at home for the holidays. This year, we will make home fun.

I’m looking forward to plans. They sound delightful. Even if they change, they sound delightful. Just thinking of them brings a smile to my face.

I hope your plans are making smiles on your face too.

Reminds me of the big parties we had at home for many years after we were married. As the years went by, the circle of friends got smaller, but the one of our kids, grands and gg’s grows ever larger. A new gg is on board to arrive soon

Oh my gosh, Georgette! Your notes to me were inspirational. You helped me get my bearings and helped me understand what it is I need to do. I LOVE Jim with all of my heart and soul and understand that this “incident” is created by his own damage and pain, but now it’s time to grow up and insist on honesty and fidelity to what we both believe in.

Thank you so much. I appreciate what you shared so much. You brought such hope. Isn’t OD WONDERFUL?? You’re truly a sister. Love,
