Class

I took my STAR OF INDIA piece to my writing class expecting at least one pat on the back. What I got was a “….make it all personal.” And, “You can write papers really well, but this would be a far more interesting piece if you write about your experiences with the STAR not just the history of the STAR.”

I dragged myself home and after lunch began to rewrite it. Blank brain syndrome drove me to a hot tub with one of my current books. What a great excuse to spend the afternoon doing nothing at all constructive. I could do that.

Dinner was, frankly, dried and overcooked homemade macaroni, cheese, and hot dogs. Really desiccated. Oy! After dinner and attention to G, who needed attention, I caught up with the new episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. He would have been far cuter if they had left him with a mustache. I know you really wanted to know that detail.

Now I am off to work in the fog. Planes are landing over me…….closely in fact. I’m still not calm about their nearly landing on my head since 9/11. I rarely thought about it before. I’m uncomfortable writing in OD on the work computer, so I shan’t. A camera right over my head records every single thing I do, and I’m not comfortable with it catching me catching up with you. I’m comfortable with it photographing anyone who breaks into my office, and that’s what it is there for.

PS: All the trolley’s in the city are down, TV news informs us all. I can make it to work, but it’s going to be an intersting juggle. I’ll take the 35 to the 6 to the 20 to the 27. Life is not dull. I may even watch the news at work to find out what happened to the trolley system.

Well the writing was fine; but then the point of these sorts of workshops is to push one further, and a writer as fine as you deserves to be challenged. Hugs.

The worst part of writing classes is that they frequently focus on only one type of writing – and on the instructors favorite style.

Good luck on the writing and the trolleys! Hugs

Me Explorer said what I wanted to but couldn’t think of words to say it, so I’ll just agree with her, and say a prayer that the trolleys are working again soon. 🙂
