A busy day.

Full days are to be treasured. They are blessings to carry with you into those days of doldrums or days filled with echoes.

After a call from an old friend congratulating G on his 19 years of sobriety, we headed to the hinterlands to lay the last AIDS Quilt into two blocks. Another dear and hardworking volunteer will sew them.

Home we came to put on half fig for a funeral. One of the board members who worked with G on our condo association died suddenly. He was a very conciencious man, but only after his death did we learn that we all had much in common. I who was married to a top photographer for so many years, learned that Joe Outland was a very talented and admired commercial photographer. I would have liked to know that when he was alive.

Perhaps that’s the lesson for the day for me. Even if I reach out awkwardly to others that I would like to know, I need to reach out.

Now we are into three quarter fig for an evening of Tchaikovsky entitled “SHADOWS & VOICES: THE LAST DAYS OF TCHAIKOVSKY.” It’s a series called the Light Bulb series. An awakening series. Murry Sidlin is the conductor, and I know he will clarify these last notes and give us an interesting and enlivening evening that will include “selections from Symphony No. 5, No. 4, No. 6, Danse Russe, and Hungarian Dance from Swan Lake.”

Its been a day of reminders and life. No tears, no dozing. But some snuck in anyway.
