Weekend and Continued Reading
Weekend
Twin and I don’t have much going on for this weekend. We met with our potential contractor last night and still haven’t received a price quote for the work we want done. The mortgage broker and we are anxious to get the process moving forward again to closing. There is pressure to get this right because we have to notify our landlord by July 10th if we are opting to rent our apartment for another year or not. We hope to tell him that we are moving out. We’d also like to close on time, which should be 07/25.
We also don’t have any real plans for the 4th. I have the day off and I think Twin won’t go into work, I’m not sure. Since we live so close to GasWorks Park where they are doing the big fireworks show for Seattle, we might be stuck. In years past we’ve been camping at Alder Lake, which is near Mt. Rainier. Last year we came back before the fireworks show started and it was crazy in the area.
Hopefully we get out tomorrow and do something fun.
Continued Reading
I read some good points today that answered a good amount of my skepticism, though some remains. They are breaking down how they arrived at making archetypes. I think I am making pretty good progress, I read around 10 pages today. Of course at that rate, its going to take me 30 work days to finish.
I must be subconsciously comprehending some of the contents because my thoughts about the theory are getting more complex and I’m getting a little better at translating that to a perspective from the inside out. There were great points today about how only the youngest presidents were sworn in at ages 42 – 46. There was a bit more definition of what each phase of life entails. It was also pointed out that while the average life expectancy is longer, there were older members in each tribe or society that survived birth, childbirth, disease, war, and famine. If humans didn’t serve a purpose beyond a certain age, then old-age wouldn’t occur.
Oh, and some random commentary on the 1930’s being the last time Health Care Reform had any real lip-service. Its been about a long human lifetime since then, so it was fun to relate current events to something I’m reading about.
I did a bit of reading yesterday on Gen-X through the internet. I’m curious to know how things will change as they replace Boomers in midlife. The number of Gen-X’ers are considerably lower than Boomers and Millennials, almost half due to drops in birth rates. There were some things I was upset with – some assertion that Millennials are even worse than their Boomer parents. There were also things that I enjoyed learning, such as their cultural contributions. There was some posturing that Gen-X is somewhat like their previous archetype cousin, the Lost Generation. I couldn’t tell you exactly what that means without further research.
A quiet weekend for once may be nice… Wouldn’t be surprised if y’all don’t find something to do though. *smiles* Have a great weekend!
