Postcard Scenery comes with a price…

 So-  this week has been crazy so far! For those of you not familiar with medical conferences/tradeshows…here is what they are all about:

Basically- in order to be able to keep practicing, doctors have to take CME classes each year (continuing medical education) to stay certified. Well- to kill two birds with one stone- medical organizations hold these big conferences around the nation that have these CME courses offered (as well as other “helpful” or “sponsored” bonus sessions) and then on the breaks- hold these trade shows. Vendors (such as my company) have booths set up outside of where the courses are being held so that when the docs are on break- they can check out the vendors and see what’s out there. Helps them learn and improve their practices and helps our company grow in salesJ win win situation…

However- the pangs of these medical conferences include:

* 11 hour days  (the booths are open from 7 am to 6 pm usually)- combined with lots of ass kissing- which we ALL know is tiring in ITSELF

* doctors of all kinds…skeezy ones that will hit on you (despite the obvious tan line on their ring finger from their WEDDING ring), arrogant doctors who will ask you every question under the sun trying to see if they will stump you or straight up just trying to impress you with their “doctor lingo”, and the nice ones who are so down to earth and don’t seem like “doctors” at all

*lack of time to do anything like go to the gym (which after all of the steak dinners and bottomless wine glasses leaves you feeling like a lazy heffer)

* jet lag

* there are some good sides though…like some of the GREAT cities I have gotten to go to (Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco, L.A, Washington D.C) and the BEAUTIFUL scenery I have seen…right now I’m in Tucson, AZ and despite their not being much to the area I’m in (we’re at a resort that is beautiful but very secluded from “city life”), it is gorgeous! Exhibit a,b,c and d below!

The conference is over as of today~ wohoo!  (I’ve been here since Monday!) It was a very successful one work-wise and hopefully some sales will happen as a result. But man I’m tired! And ready to get home and back to my routineJ my flight is at 7 am tomorrow morning- which is gonna suck! But the good thing is I land at 12:30 and don’t have to go into the office at all J

I so remember the days of work travel- I did my best to get out and about- I organized the CME shite, not the trade show stuff. A lot of 6am to 8pm days, and skeevy people, feeling weirded out from jet lag, bad conf center food, no alone time, oh yes. I hear ya.

I knew your title came from the concert–that’s why I said “ah, now I know where your title comes from”. šŸ™‚ Glad we got to catch up last night! I think we may stop by that 70’s party after all so I probably won’t make midtown, but thanks for asking! I promise to come out soon!

Kissing ass can be SO SO tiring. But at least work has been successful.
