Working

So, I’ve made plans to meet Calesha a week from today. I admit, her level of innocence and her degree of interest in me is beyond worrying. She keeps telling me how she doesn’t know what she’s going to wear to our “date” and how much she’s looking forward to it and it just feels so incredibly kiddish, even for my standards. I’m feeling pretty uncertain about it overall. But, I want to at least meet her and I’m sure it will be good for me, I just don’t want to break her heart in the process. She’s a sweet girl.

In the meantime, I’ve been settling into my job well enough. I’m off to another rural Georgia town (Thomasville, again) tomorrow and I’ll be there all week. One of the things I do like about my job is that it is a very carefree environment. For example, one of my bosses always walks around the office bouncing rubber a ball, for no discernable reason other than he apparently likes bouncing balls. This is especially convenient if I’m goofing off on the internet, since it allows me to hear when he’s coming.

Speaking of that, there is one thing that traveling around and auditing banks and other businesses has revealed to me: There are a lot of people who go to work every day and do practically nothing at their job. Well, either that, or bank jobs require workers to log on amazon.com a lot more than I realized. Granted, generally most of these people aren’t getting paid that well at what they’re doing, but still! How many jobs are there out there where people go in and doodle online while they wait for someone to give them something to do?! Are most jobs like this?

If so, I’d like to apply for one . . .

at the (although, short) stint i had an office in the winter, i would create small masterpieces in photoshop or illustrator when no one was looking. ha! the work was dreadfully tedious…something had to keep me from losing it. i know a paralegal that plays on myspace most of his workdays… i guess so.

Uh, you just said that YOU goof off on the internet! ~I’ll be

Good luck with Calesha. Hope it’s not as bad as it could be (if that even makes sense). I goof off some on the net at work, but it’s few and far between. It’s one of those ‘when it rains, it pours’ kind of jobs. So i enjoy the down time i have when i can.

I’m not so sure it’s a useful exercise. I was just trying to make a point about the summers. It does really amaze me how little someone of your age can know about the concept of work… never seen builders standing around? Hunter used to say he’d only do shit if it was cold and he needed to keep himself warm. Even this hotel/cafe stuff I do at the moment is hours of yawning boredom being abusedby idle chefs punctuated by frantic nonstop running around. I don’t remember not working any more I was so young… factory was a bit more relentless I guess!

aww…I’m excited you are meeting her. I’m sure her “kiddishness” will eventually wear itself down.

good luck with her, but i would watch out. girls like that tend to be that way for a reason. and my job is like that, or, it was. i get to see what it’s like at my new store in about ten hours… 🙂

i’ve heard that office jobs are pretty much like that. it’s why america is so unproductive, in terms of worker productivity, haha.

ahhh,so your the famous “matt” eh? well, it was my pleasure, ive been a reader of hers for somewhere around three years and i like to think that she helped me once upon a time so i was hoping that i could return the favor. i only hope that, in my arrogance, i didnt serve to insult her
