The Abortion Paradox

The difference between sex and death is that with death you can do it alone and no one is going to make fun of you.

Woody Allen

After the vague, somewhat strange, diary of yesterday featuring the story of how my diary got rated, today we’re back to the more normal rantings and ravings of mine. Anyway, I came across a recent diary on how abortions are EVIL and it got me to thinking about how stupid our government is when it comes to this subject.

Naturally, being the great moralists that the heads of our government are, they would never consider the idea of anyone who isn’t married having sex. It’s unthinkable. No one would do it. To even tell kids that such a thing is possible would be an outrage. You should only have sex when you’re married, and even then only if your partner doesn’t have a headache. That’s how our government sees things.

Shockingly, as I pointed out a few entries back, teenagers tend to get really horny. They’re going to have sex. That’s just the facts. The problem with sex, of course, is that although it’s all sorts of fun while it’s going on, the after effects aren’t so much. You end up with unwanted babies. You end up with STD’s. All sorts of bad stuff.

Of course, both of these things can be prevented (and if not prevented, the possibility can be greatly reduced) by using the new invention that they apparently just came out with called condoms. However, the government doesn’t want to tell kids to use condoms, because by telling them to use condoms, they would also inherently be telling them it’s ok to have sex, when it is obviously not at all ok to have sex. It is a sin after all, right?

So, what we end up with is kids ignoring the government completely, having lots of sex and then getting babies that they really don’t want (and even if they do want them, they have no business parenting them). Then, the conservatives, who are the big supporters of the abstinence preaching to begin with, say that abortion should be banned. Well, the thing is, there would be substantially less kids to be aborted, if the government actually taught kids to use protection. It’s not rocket science.

So, what the paradoxical nature of our governmental stance on the issue creates is a lot of babies without good homes to grow up in, and that’s not good whether you abort them or not. Now, I’m not naive enough to think that the government promoting condoms is suddenly going to turn every 15 year old into a responsible adult, but, hey, if one kid uses a condom that wouldn’t have, then that could be a life saved. No kid is going to not have sex just because the government says not to. It’s too much fun. A few might actually use condoms if they are taught about the consequences of not using them though.

So, in the end, I’m not claiming a slightly more pro-protection governmental stance would get rid of all unwanted pregnancies. It’s obviously not. I’m just saying there would be fewer babies out there to be unfairly murdered. I think everyone, pro-choice and pro-life, can agree that this is a good thing. Unfortunately, our government doesn’t seem to be able to see that.

we should use brain weashing techniques to make the children fear sex. yes. Total control over thier feeble minds. anyways. as it stands, it is used to divert the consequence of a mistake. Very few mistakes are not avoidable. Most are. Protection is important. smackin your kid for being a dumb ass is better. its about parents and families not the big bad dumb government.

This entry is, so, going to have a part 2 now. Whenever I have time. So, you guys have something to look forward to.

I agree with you. I got pregnant and had a baby when I was 16 because no one bothered to teach me about safe sex. At least there are so many loving couples in the country who adopt and raise these children as their own. Not only should we have better sex education, adoption should be discussed more. The only choices are not abortion or parenting.
