After much debate I’ve made the decision to take a trip to SF during my break. I’m leaving on December 16th and staying until the 21st. So now I turn to you readers again – any suggestions for things to do? Places to stay? Food to eat?

Oh, and if you’re a diary reader who lives in the area then we should totally hang out. That includes you Brittainy!

Cool, that sounds fun. Is it cold? Will it snow? I know nothing about America (except things learned from years of stalking ODers) ryn: eh, I meant a pub not a hotel, but I don’t think I’m going to make enough money anyway. It’s not as selfdeprecating as all that, I’m exhausted and think I want to be alone over xmas. Well rather alone than with people who are mad at me.

awesome. Some things I’d do if I were there: -go to the Berkeley Bowl – a super awesome grocery store. Perhaps only I can enjoy grocery stores that much, though. -I love visiting various cities’ public libraries and parks -You should rent a bike and bike around (i believe the most famous company there is blazing saddles) -chinatown. then again, i am a chinese food/culture junkie…

December 8, 2009

but seriously – that chinatown is THE chinatown. also, public gardens…and the tops of tall buildings. and bookstores! and i’ve heard something about wild parrots in SF. and there are probably tons of cool events on their city event calendar…

I’ve never been, so I have no idea. But, you’ve been to ATL, what should I do while I’m there?? ~I’ll be

Eat a bunch of sourdough for me. <3 m

The Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate park is a MUST!! Also the wharf is a favorite tourist attraction (which does have some good restaurants and shops). Steer clear of the tenderloin district and dress warm, its gonna be super cold!!

Gah, I’m super jealous! Have a marvelous time and come back with lots of suggestions for me for when I can finally scrounge up the cash to take a trip out there!

Beautiful city. You should take a little time in Berkley, also go to Fisherman’s Warf and have some clam chowder, totally touristy, but totally worth it. Sourdough bread, must try that … Great cafes in Sausalito, also Castro District is very cool . I hate Chinatowns, but my mother and brothers love them .. there is a really good chinatown there. you’ll have a great time. it’s a beautiful city.

I started to tell you about Sea World and stuff ’cause my best friend just went there… but that’s in San Diego. So I got nothin’.

RYN: I totally didn’t think she would…Thats why I went straight for the “F” route…Glad I emailed her to let her know of my plans instead of just not showing up, then I really would have blown it.

Ohh also if you make your way to San Jose (about a 30 min drive from SF) I’m down for coffee…I’ve met OD faves in the past and have had fun (except delusional des as of late lol)

i don’t know. i was so miserably cold in san francisco, and that was in july. if it isn’t too cold, you might rent a bike and ride across the golden gate bridge. i saw people doing that, and it looked like they could be having fun.

I heart SF. I never think it’s too cold to go there. I was supposed to go today, but I had the car and you know that rant alreaddy. But yes, I’ll tell you what to do later. When I’m not so pouty and miserable like I am. Ugh. I keep checking my phone, reading emails, looking at my grade, just WAITING to see it change.

December 10, 2009

i’d love to see SF, have a great holiday.

I only went there once, and only for a day, so I can’t really think of any suggestions. Sounds awesome though, have a great time!

ryn: I think it was the one about delivering divorced Pakistani girls’ children. Hah.

December 14, 2009

RYN: That was EXACTLY what he meant! I was in tears from laughing so hard, and then when he said that, I practically fell off the sofa. Every time I think about the Eagles and my hatred for McNabb, that’s the image that pops into my mind: barfing during the last few minutes of the Super Bowl hahaha.

Yeah. I like finding mundane things beautiful. I like the specific details that other people find unimportant, not the vague impersonal concepts. Don’t know how well this comes over in what I write though. I also like writing about sex.

December 15, 2009

oooh, I think it might be warmer this week but SF is always cold. Layers!

RYN: A fake tree does not make you grinches. However, I’ve been called a pretty big grinch myself, so I might not be the best judge of grinchdom. My husband is morally opposed to fake trees, so I’ll never know the joy of just opening the closet, putting the tree together, and not having to clean up after it. Lucky you! Safe travels to SFO!

RYN: Nope, not at all. I don’t really get “turned on” by anything that I can think of. Btw, I posted a piece of my memoir. I don’t know if you read it or not, but since you said you were interested I thought I’d let you know about it.
