Pornography, Irony, and My Parents

My mother is completely revolted by pornography. Occasionally, she’ll get an e-mail advertising “hot wild sex” or something similar and suddenly go into this rant about the disgusting nature of it and how society is completely falling apart. The whole concept is simply appalling to her (ironically, I doubt she’s even ever seen it).

Meanwhile, my father has tons of playboy magazines hidden in the closet of his “office,” not to mention several hardcore pornographic videos. I discovered them when I was around 11 years old (the perfect age, no?), but I’m taking it my mother still doesn’t know.

Now, personally, I’ve strayed away from looking at pornography, much in the same way an anorexic doesn’t eat (it’s a control thing), but I rather understand that my father is male and something like 70% of the male population looks at pornography on a regular basis. All the same, the irony that my mother is so disgusted by something that the person I presume she loves most in the world has a bloody collection of is quite, well, amusing.

Still, there are a couple of more disturbing things about my father’s habits that I might go into further detail about a bit later. I could now, but, well, NoJoMo is winding down and I need entries! And I don’t know if it’s something I really want to talk about. But, yeah, stay tuned.

No sex and won’t look at porn… what next, you don’t wank? I think you’re an android.

Haha, you android. Porn is too unrealistic, I don’t know why men like it in the first place.
