So, my phone stopped working three days ago. This is the second time my LG ENV2 has stopped working since I first got one two months ago, when I switched my phone service over to Verizon. The first time this happened I simply went to the store and had it replaced and it all went smoothly enough. This time things have hit a bit more of a snag though.

First, they were out of LG ENV2’s at my local Verizon store, so they had to order one, meaning I had to go 2 days without a phone. I asked if it would be possible for me to downgrade to a cheaper phone that they had available in the store at that time, but they said that that wouldn’t be possible and that, yes, I would indeed have to get yet another ENV2 even though it’s already stopped working on me twice in precisely the same manner in less than 2 months. And I would have to wait 2 days to get it. Great.

So, the 2 days go by and I decide to call Verizon and see if my phone is in. When I call I get put on hold for 20 minutes before I just give up. I try to call again and I am told that they will call me back. I wait another 30 minutes and they don’t call me back. So I decide to just go to the store and see if the phone is in.

I get there and wait 30 minutes to be seen, only to be told that, no, the phone has not arrived yet and might not get there until 7:00 PM that night. Great, so I’ll have to drive 30 minutes again and pick it up in the morning then.

But, no, actually I just decided to check my voicemail (by calling from another phone) and I have a message from FedEx. Apparently Verizon actually decided to send the phone to my house, which is fine, but that was not at all made clear at the

store. Even better, FedEx can’t find my house and thinks that the address must be incorrect (even though it is correct). And the best part is, I reiterate, they called the number to the phone that they are delivering and thus I do not have.

I think from now on I am just facebooking.

HAHAHAHA!

It has been suggested that I should point out that it was actually my father who went to pick up the phone, however, I thought the story worked better when told in the first-person. Creative nonfiction rules, right?

Random noter….Same thing happened to me with the EN original until I bitched and moaned. Luckily someone loved me because they sent me the ENV2 for free. I would’ve stopped service if they didn’t give me the right information. We don’t pay to get screwed?

I’m going to point out that since you called and they never confirmed that they had it, it was a pretty stupid move to drive to the store because you live thirty minutes away, so don’t complain about that part. Also. Do you talk on the phone that much that going two days without it is that awful? I was unaware. ~I’ll be

I never intend to leave rude notes on your diary, but for some reason they always come out that way. I am sorry. ~I’ll be

I have had Verizon for about 5 or 6yrs now. I love them because all I do is call the number and say I have been highly insulted in the store and am changing my service unless my issue is resolved by the end of that call. It is always resolved exactly how I want it to be.

Regarding YFN’s note: They indicated that the phone should be there by that afternoon when I had talked to them 2 days before, so I was assuming it would be there. I just wanted to call and confirm it was there since we figured they were clueless and it would actually show up later. But when we could not get a hold of them we decided to just go ahead to the store. Of course, it actually wasn’t going to the store at all, as it turns out.

I just left that note because where I work we do special orders for china (I know, not the same thing at all) and well tell people that it should be in by such and such date, but that we’ll call to let them know when it’s in for sure. And there are CONSTANTLY customers who come in asking for their china and I say, “Did someone call you?” and they say no. ~I’ll be

So then I have to say, “Well it’s probably not here yet. We always call you when we get your shit in, like we told you we would.” But I realize that these are different scenarios and that they didn’t necessarily say they’d call you. ~I’ll be

Wow, great customer service there! That really sucks. And it seems ridiculous that they can’t give you another phone since the EnV is obviously a dud. You should do what my SBUX customers do and call their customer service and make crazy accusations and threaten to sue! It might be fun, and that way you can pay them back for the trouble they put you through 🙂

Uh uh, you do not put up with that shit from them. When your phone stops working you need to go to the store and be very firm that you want a completely different phone because of their incompetent products. They say it’s not possible but with a little insistence you can accomplish a lot.

Verizon is stupid. I’ve had similar experiences with their customer service.

Oh my goodness. The best (worst?) part of this whole sad and frustrating story is definitely the fact that they called your phone. In the package.

Mmm…I am going to need for Verizon to do better. However, when you put the screws on them, as one note above commented, yeah, they hurriedly do what you ask them to do. The economy isn’t getting any better so I am going to definitely need them to do BETTER. We wouldn’t want customers to go to another cell phone service provider. Folks just need to get it together!
