Football

So, I went to my first UGA football game over the weekend; it’s definitely an interesting experience. I’ve been to Major League Baseball games before, as well as a college football game at Georgia Southern (which is a much smaller school), but the atmosphere of a UGA game is definitely more exciting. Having over 92,000 people, most of which are rabidly cheering for UGA, packed into a stadium like that is pretty intense. My seats are high enough that I actually get a pretty good view of the whole field too, though, honestly, I’m sure I still have a better view of the action on my television screen.

Of course, the logistics of getting 92,000 people to a stadium located on a university campus is not so great. Battling the traffic to get to a parking space nearly makes it not even worth going. I also quickly learned that I may as well consider future gamedays (I have tickets to two more games, vs. Ole Miss and Auburn) an all-day experience – I’m going to just go hours before gametime and leave hours afterwards, in an effort to avoid the frenzied exits (there’s a place across the street where I can go and watch other college football games on television to pass the time before and after the games, so waiting isn’t really that big of a deal).

Honestly, there isn’t a lot else happening in my life. I did hang out with Open Diarist The Mary on Friday, who has (at least temporarily) moved to my former locale of Milledgeville. Meeting with her was pleasant as always and was also the only other major happening of my weekend.

So, basically, I just presented an entire entry on college football to a primarily female audience. I’m not sure what I was thinking.

Oh, yeah, and we won the game, 35-14. Go Dawgs.

I like college football! Why don’t you sit in the student section? Now that’s something else entirely. My friends and I get to our games like 2 hours before kickoff so we can get seats, but being in the stadium so long also means we sometimes leave early. Either way, it’s pretty much always by walking, because there is nowhere nearby to park. Anyway, war eagle 😛

ryn My bad. Our student section is just sort of push-and-shove your way into the best seat you can. There are no “my seats.” Hence my confusion.

I heard that the game was AWESOME. Jonathan was so upset to have missed it. He works on Saturdays so will most likely only go to one or two games. When I was at ASU, I went to almost EVERY game. I never lived too far from the stadium, so I always just walked. One year, I lived ACROSS the street from the stadium. Hell yes. I’m glad you had fun. 🙂

ryn: Yup, it’s pretty big. It’s in one of the lecture rooms in A&S, and it’s pretty much filled. My U.S. History class was like that too.

That actually sounds great. I love the atmosphere at sports events. There’s a place called Ole Miss? But,obviously, it’s not really football.
