Clarification

Ok, when I wrote the last entry my point was that I’m a spoiled kid and that’s why I have no idea what to do with money – you don’t all have to tell me that! I know that people who work a lot of jobs don’t make crap and struggle paying their bills and all that. I was trying to point out my clueless nature, not be an asshole and act like I’m rich or something, I even tried to say that in the entry, but apparently that part fell on deaf ears (or blind eyes).

I am still a little baffled at how people toss money away, but I’m speaking of people who make more money than me and end up broke. I know living is expensive when you actually have to take care of yourself and a family and all that. Though I do remain unconvinced that people who live in families where two people are making $50k or more are spending all their money on bills. Especially if they live here.

I guess I mostly get the impression that I have about money from my parents – they’ve saved up plenty of money over the years with salaries around what mine is now and they’ve never had any problem paying their bills and, you know, they had satellite television and basically do anything they want to do that’s within reason. It’s possible.

Overall, I suppose what I meant is that my life isn’t really wanting for anything right now? Nothing that you can buy with money, at least. I’d like to travel a bit more, but that’s about it.  And, despite being spoiled, I do know how much my bills normally run, and I could pay bills fine with my what I’m making, though it would admittedly cut into it some (which is why I want to mooch off my parents a little longer). But what then? Buy lots of books and films? I don’t even know what else to spend money on. But, yeah, I’m sure there are lots of things I’m not considering, the whole point was that I’m clueless, remember.

And now we’re back where we started. Wow, that was a circular entry. There probably is no need to note this entry if you noted the last one, hah.

I think what you do after you’ve paid for everything is start saving up for retirement. Which, frankly (no pun intended) kind of terrifies me about this whole job thing…there’s going to be a time when you’re actually not going to be working, just living off of the money that you’ve saved up…so, like, all of the work you do now is just to support you later. It all seems so senseless.

you’re lucky you are in the situation you are in. 🙂 you’ve had a very fortunate life, matty.

just got your note, and watched the clip. yes. i am a giant wow nerd. thank you.

Some people would say you need a girlfriend. lol…but I’m not some people, dont worry.

I really struggle with money, but your entry didn’t annoy me in the least… I was in a similar situation when I lived at home. Don’t feel so apologetic! People should chill out.

Yeah, you really don’t need a job at all. But, of course, the world being what it is, you have a ridiculously good one. I dunno mate, but you’ve said loads of times you don’t really want to be living with your parents at 23 etc, surely living in your own place with all your bathtubs of money would be a start?

ryn: eh? What’s a “platonic girlfriend”, is this another american thing? They’re practically married, I swear I’ve talked about Allie before.

I wish I had your problem with money! I am beyond broke because my parents did not save money up for my college and I have tons of loans to pay off right now. This was not intentional on their part, they just didn’t plan ahead. My advice, save as much as you can of you money so later you have it when you need it. I’m glad you are not stressed about money. I’m sure it feels great. 🙂

hokay. so i’m going to hassle you like you hassle me. you say your life isn’t wanting for anything when it’s clearly wanting for everything: risk, adventure, excitement, danger– all the good stuff that shapes you into the person you need to become. save up all your money for a year and then take a year off and get the hell out of there: travel around the world and meet new people.

reinvent yourself along the way. find out why life is worth living.

You don’t even want to know about the admiration sigh I just had in response to OD Michael. He left me a note by the way. Okay, well, I have a hard time with this online bs, and you know that. So I take back my complaints. I know that you understand all of what I said which is why I didn’t have a problem saying it to you. I do think investing in a retirement plan NOW is the way to go, Matt.

lalalala this is your internet girlfriend. hah!

I wish people would leave you and your money alone! My stepuncle and his girlfriend both work for the state so together they pull AT LEAST $100k a year but they are about to lose their house. I don’t get it. I don’t know why that was relevant. I miss you.

No, the lethal injection is what is expensive. Hanging is equally humane and much cheaper. Also it makes more sense.

Hah! Sorry, I had no idea anyone would be so interested in Allie’s lovelife. She’s been in a relationship for like 4, 5 years, I don’t think she’s the cheating type…
