Back to Athens . . . and Dancing?

So, I am back in Athens and celebrating my resolution to be more social by sitting in the office writing diary entries. Like that’s a shock to anyone.

But I’m going to change that. There’s a free Swing Dance class offered by UGA that I think I’m going to go to tomorrow night. I’m obviously nervous that I’m not going to be as good as a dancer as most of the people there (it’s just a general “open” course where beginners are welcome), but I figure the worse that can happen is a little embarrassment, which is a small price to pay for sociality in the long run. I really wish I would have had the courage to try something like this sooner. Oh, and if this all goes disastrous and I write an entry about how I’m now the laughing stock of UGA, you can blame my fellow open diarist Kate, she’s partially inspired this idea.

Also, I did talk to Robin a bit last night (she’s also known as the girl I’m mildly infatuated with from two entries ago). She’s showing signs of interest, which is good. I’ll shamefully admit that I’m a little intimidated by how attractive she is – I’m honestly not more attractedto her because of it so much as I am worried that she probably has loads more experience than I do with this sort of thing, since I’m sure she can have her pick of any guy she wants. Right, cue the notes about how I’m a spectacular guy and that won’t matter.

At any rate, hopefully we will move towards actually meeting fairly soon, as I’ve said before, I’m not exactly in need of online friends. I’ll probably try to start steering things in that direction, shortly – she seems interested so I doubt she’d be too averse to it. And there’s really no reason not to, we live in the same bloody city.

So, yes, please maintain your position on the edge of your seats for now.

The edge. I’m there. Also, I’m stoked you’re taking a dance class. They’re fun! And you meet heaps of people! And you make an ass of yourself, but so does everyone else, and much laughter is had, so it’s all good 🙂

Matt, you’re silly. I love swing dancing, I wish I could do it. But I can’t dance. I mean I won’t let myself be able to. Blah. But it should be fun and girls love guys who like to dance. I think.

I’m glad you’re being positive! A girl I used to work with recently married a guy she met at the swing dancing class here. Have you considered inviting Robin to go with you?

I think the dance class is a good idea. 🙂 And no, I am not biased in saying that because I dance. Okay. Maybe a little. But it’s still a good idea. ♥ Andrea
