As The Anticipation Mounts
So, it’s now a mere 3 weeks before I head to California and have my much anticipated meeting with Heather. And, while this is rather obviously an important step in our relationship, I’m generally trying to downplay it as much as possible. I just think that it’s easy to get wrapped up in unrealistic romantic scenarios when imagining these sort of meetings, when in reality it’s going to be nothing but awkward at first. Which, granted, we’ve talked on the phone a fair amount, but there’s no form of communication that’s going to completely prepare you for a face-to-face meeting.
Which isn’t to say that I think it’s going to go badly – far from it. I’m just hoping to stay realistic and not expect a moment of ecstasy to instantly strike us the moment we lay eyes on each other, and instead, be prepared and accepting of the initial awkwardness that the meeting is sure to have.
But I’m still excited.
On another note, I returned to the farm today to find a stray dog wondering around our yard. He’s incredibly friendly and I’m already rather selfishly hoping that any attempts to find his owners fail. I know, shut up. I can’t help I’m a sucker for dogs. And, of course, I have a picture:
So, I talked about my girlfriend and a puppy in this entry. No, I don’t know what’s happening to me either.
Can we all say AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW?

Umm… how cute is HE?! I think you should call him… Howard. Perhaps Howie for short? Or Halbert… keep the name in the family. This of course if you don’t find his owners. Just look at those eyes… he’s saying, “Matt, let’s be best friends. You seem like a fine, splendid chum! Pip pip cheerio!” Yes, he has a British accent. Now get him a little sweater and maybe a monocle… -K

“you have to drop the presumption that we sit around while Heather babbles on about how great I am and how we love each other in such extra special ways that itÂ’s just like magic” *reads this entry and notes again*

I’m so excited for you, and Heather… Your realistic expectations are probably healthy, and it doesn’t make you sound any less excited. :)I like you more for talking about your girlfriend and a puppy. So that’s something. xx

That is one cute puppy. I’d be hoping I don’t find the owner, either.
