Work Issues *edit*
So I just went to the doctor today and got the okay to go back to work on the 6th of November. I will be able to work by wearing a big black boot for the next 4 to 6 weeks after 3 more weeks of a cast.
So I was so excited that I went and called work and then emailed my director….not my boss. Right there I should have known something wasn’t right.
This is what I wrote:
Just wanted to let you know I am okayed to go back to work on the 6th of November. I will get the official okay on the 5th. I will be in a big black boot to walk around in. I cannot drive however until a few weeks after he puts me in the boot.
I want to talk to you about hours. He said the first month or so getting back on my feet will be rough. A lot of pain and swelling. I wanted to know if I could possibly work 8 to 1 or 8 to 2. Half days for a starting point. My husband and/or my parents will be dropping me off and picking me up until I can drive.
Please let me know if this is okay. I know you prefer the afternoons for me to work…I’m just thinking about the swelling that may occur later on in the day.
Feel free to call or e-mail.
Then I get an email back from my director, Stephanie, saying this:
Jessi,
Glad you are on the mend. If you come back on the 6th , wearing the black boot, are you going to be able to move around the classroom, go on playground etc ? If you come back I will need you to be fully functional. Let me know what you think.
Steph
So how does everyone else read this??? I read it like I needed be full time status and being able to do everything and anything.
So I wrote her back another email and explained:
Hey Steph,
I will be fully functional in that I will be able to walk around without the need of crutches. So technically I will be able to walk around the classroom and the playground. And stairs for that matter.
By fully functional, what do you mean? What I listed above or going full time? If it’s full time status, I have to wait a bit on that to make the adjustment on being on that foot all day. He doesn’t want any physical therapy. He hasn’t said I need any, but he did say I would be able to do just about anything (within reason…no hiking, etc.) minus driving.
I have another 4 to 6 weeks in the boot. I cannot NOT work for that long amount of time. I’ve already taken too many days off within my liking but that was doctor’s orders.

I haven’t heard anything back yet. Hopefully she will tell me tomorrow. I’m just a nervous wreck over this. I KNEW I should have gone straight to the boss, Jennifer. She is more caring and understanding and told me in the first place to take the time off. Now I have to battle Stephanie it looks like. I just don’t know. This is NOT what I needed for today.
*Edit: I got this email from Stephanie this afternoon-
By the fully functional yes ! I meant that you’d be able to get around and wouldn’t have to sit with your leg up. We can try the 8-1 and see how you do with that. I will plan on the 6th unless I hear different.
See you then !!
Stephanie
So all is resolved! Thank you dear God! I was so worried about this.
And to the noters that noted on this entry. Thank you for reading and responding. It really means a lot!
