Surgery Soon! *Edit*

Well I see my Orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday of this week to discuss having surgery very soon.  The reason for me not waiting another year is that my insurance through work is changing and I believe the doctor I am seeing for my ankle will not be covered under the new insurance plan.  It’s better to be safe then sorry.  So hopefully, we are praying, that I can have the surgery next week or within a week or two.  We’ll find out more Wednesday.  My husband is coming with me to the doctor on Wednesday to ask questions and see what I will be limited to and all that.

I already spoke to my boss, Jennifer, at work and told her the situation.  She said all is fine with keeping my position open in Moonbeams (3-4 year old class).  She will have a sub in there for the time being for me.

My church that my husband is a Pastor of will be paying us from the Benevolence Fund for the two months or so I am out of surgery with no income.  They will also be paying for my insurance as well.  My part of my insurance.  I will just then pay work my insurance rate that I wouldn’t be paying out of from the income I make at work due to not working.  I think this is truly an answer to prayer because there is no way possible that we could afford the two months or more I am laid up from work to not make it with my income from my job.  We’d be really head under water.  So the church is helping.  I let Jennifer know this as well and she said that that was terrific!!!  I haven’t told many people close to me.  I haven’t even told my parents.  It’s kinda under wraps.

I’m sitting here writing this and waiting for my co-worker/friend Heidi to finish up painting her living room so we can go to the pool and swim.  We aren’t in work today due to the Hurricane Isaac moving through the area, but we have nothing here going on.  Yeah, windy a bit rainy, but nothing too serious like everyone thought.

**EDIT:  I got a note regarding a few entries ago about my husband and his spasms from his neck injury which left him a quadriplegic.  We went to Miami to the University of Miami Spinal Cord Institute and he was examined fully and asked a multitude of questions.  He has stainless steel plates and screws fusing his C5, C6 and C7 vertebrae together.  It is hard to tell what actually is happening behind the stainless steel plate and screws because the plate and screws are not titanium and therefore it makes viewing the x-rays and MRI’s impossible due to blurriness.  The surgeon ordered a full MRI of his spinal cord to rule out anything else that might be causing the increase in spasms.  The next road is to do a cat scan of his abdominal region to rule out anything there.

We thought exploratory surgery was the next thing to do, but the surgeon mentioned none of that, and we know that exploratory surgery may make his injury worse and also make his spasms worse.  So we aren’t going down that road.

Stress is not making the spasms worse.  He has also lost feeling and usage in his left hand and this has happened also right around the time his spasms got worse.  So stress is not a factor.**

Thanks for your note. I didn’t know about the screws and the plates. Glad he is not getting the operation. Gee , plates and screws would surely cause spasms, no matter where they are in the human body. Those things are not “natural ” to the body and the spasms just might be the body’s way of letting everyone know . Sounds silly but sure makes sense. Ouch…ouch..I will pray for his recovery, and release from pain > Hope he gets better soon. I have no answers, sorry, just sharing ideas here that’s all. Not trying to be intrusive or whatever. Going through stuff like that is hard, difficult..and that’s putting it mildly. I hope you both find peace and relief from pain as soon as possible . Good you are connected with a church. Sometimes that helps. Eventually some day I might visit a church someday. Spiritual connections help humans most times. peace and a better better week this week.
