Back to Crutches….oh joy!

So I had my orthopedic doctor on Monday afternoon.  First of all, I might mention it was standing room only at the doctor’s.  I got there at 3:45 for a 4:30 appointment and was not brought in until 5:00.  I left at 5:30 when they closed.

But anyway.  I was brought in.  The nurse that brought me in said what was I there for today, and I said for my 6th month checkup.  I said I was in a lot of pain and discomfort.  I also told him about the exercise consisting if P90X.  He said, uh, we’re gonna have a look at your foot.  He noted the bump and said he would talk to the doctor about that.  He then went out to the hall and started discussing it with the doctor.  The xray technician came in and got me xrays.  I came back to the room and waited.  The doctor was in almost immediately.  He sat down and said just what exactly do you think light and moderate exercise is?  I knew i was in trouble.  Basically what has happened is that a bump has formed from the friction on the screws from the impact of the exercise and walking on it.  I have caused the screws to friction which causes swelling.  The screws are still in place but are just rubbing against bone and each other.  So it caused inflammation.  So he said that we’ll do a Cortisone shot in there and then go from there.  But that’s not all.  I’m on crutches until I get the cortisone shot in another week.   Which isn’t all that bad.  Except I work with 17-3 year-olds.  I also have to wear a brace….and just when you thought that was all, I go to Sea World tonight and have to use crutches around the park.  He said no walking on it.  I’m none too happy about this, but I brought it on myself and have no one to blame but me anyways.  I’m pissed at myself more than the situation at hand.  I have to cut my hours at work from 8:00-5:00 to 2:00 until 5:00.  I am in so much pain, both from the foot and from using the crutches.  It’s a lot of hard work using those things.  Plus they rub under your arms the wrong way and cause blisters.

Then on Monday night after the doctor I went and saw a psychiatrist speak on medications.  I asked after the session about abilify and seroquel and he said abilify won’t cause weight gain.  Or tiredness.  So I was extremely pissed about that.  I know the weight gain is from something, I just don’t know what.  Then I have been so tired lately so I decided to go back on Zoloft.  It has upped my energy quite a bit.  I’m more alert and not wanting to sleep all day long.  I feel better as well.  So now I’m taking that as well.  Joy.

Learned a lot about medications from the speaker.  It was very informative.  Now if I can find a right amount of dosage and medication that would work for me, it would be awesome!

So we are off after I come home from work at 5, to go to Sea World.  We’ll arrive there at 8:30-9:00 tonight.  Looking forward to this just wish I wasn’t on crutches.  ONLY 1 WEEK left for crutches though!
