About my kitty
Because there’s so much more to the little guy than just his cardiology appointment tomorrow.
We’ve been getting a much clearer sense of his personality these days- partly because he’s feeling more at home, and partly because he’s feeling so much better now that his ear infection is being treated.
I think the shelter may have underestimated when they described his energy level as "medium"." He has a wand toy (with felt streamer) that he loves, and that he’ll chase through the apartment for 30 minutes to an hour straight- leaping in the air and occasionally at such high speeds that he’ll tumble backwards. He loves to lurk and attack it – my adorable killing machine is going to give those nasty Palmetto bugs a run for their money when they start showing up in the spring. Even when he’s not playing with toys, he likes to gallop through the apartment. sometimes leaping up onto his chair by the window and back down just for the sheer joy of climbing and jumping.
Sage is a comedian- he makes funny faces and does Cat Yoga. He managed to get both the vet and vet tech (and both of us) laughing at his appointment Wednesday. He has a seriously intense grooming routine- which is clearly effective, because his fur is as soft and fluffy as a pricey Gund stuffed animal . And he’s a lovebug. Sage is likely to jump into my lap at any moment’s notice if I’m sitting down- whether I’m on the computer, reading a book or eating. He especially loves to sleep on my lap when I read. The past couple weeks I’ve been going to bed before J, and Sage will come in and lie on my chest and pur- sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes til I fall asleep.
He’s the sort of cat who will spend twenty minutes burying his poop and still worry about how it smells. He’ll walk on me in the mornings if I’m not getting out of bed to feed him fast enough- but only after the alarm goes off. Otherwise, he runs into the kitchen and sits by his bowl and meows. He’s also been eating like a horse the last couple days – I think it’s mainly recovering from a week of barely eating after we first brought him home. He’s a breath of fresh air, and so clearly just the right cat for us.
