Power trip much, Barney Fife?
I loved the Barney Fife character on The Andy Griffith show. I thought he was hilarious. However in real life, any Barney Fife type characters are annoying. Although we all laugh at them
The Head of Security at the hospital I work at fits this description. He’s definitely a blowhard with delusions of grandeur. Except he’s big and fat, not skinny like Barney. Because he holds such a position of high-esteem (just kidding, head of security? I think the parking cops outside have more authority than him), he struts around like he owns the place
He lets his buddies park wherever they want in the parking garage (employees are supposed to park in the top 2 floors), he gets cups of coffee in the waiting room intended for friends/family of the patients undergoing surgery, he’ll change the channels on tv’s in those rooms to whatever he wants to watch
I mentioned before how my office is the closest to the department door with the keypad lock. Well he has a key to it. Instead of knocking on the door or knowing the combination, he uses his key to open the door and walks in like he owns the place
Yesterday he emailed a memo to the entire hospital. In it he mentions a lot of people have had stuff stolen in their offices (he also included lots of misspellings and grammatical errors, he’s well-educated, haha). And he goes to explain that these instances only occured because those people didn’t prevent it from happening. Yes, he explained in a memo that only reason items are being stolen in the hospital is because those people didn’t prevent it themselves
If that isn’t smug enough to cast blame on anyone but him or his security guards, he typed the email in a Word document and attached the file. The actual email says "FYI, Thank you". That just reeks of "you’re not worth my time, read this memo"
moral of the story: They do say you’re supposed to make the most of what you’ve got, but sometimes you have to realize you’re grasping at straws
Have a Nice Day!
ps: This comp has not been my friend lately (in addition to OD’s struggles). It takes forever to get to write an entry, so I’ve been behind on noting. I will catch up though!
