Pay me to eat at your restaurant!

There was another late Rockets game last night. Started at 9pm Central time. I didn’t watch it, I chose to get a full night’s rest. Darn late night sporting events! 😛

Anyways, for dinner last night my wife and I went to La Madeleine. It’s a nice little spot with soups, salads, and sandwiches. It has a French theme, and it’s perfect for brunch on weekends. It was right by the portrait studio we took our maternity pics at, so we’ve been there twice in the last week or so. Once after the photo shoot and again after we picked up the photos and the cd

And both times we profited! 😛

The first time we went, the sandwiches we ordered took too long. We get the salad and soup right off the bat, but while we snack on those and bread with jelly or butter, we wait for the sandwiches to come out. After a 30 minute wait for them, and seeing other people who already had theirs even though they ordered after us, my wife went up to the manager to check on it. He apologized and gave us $30 in gift cards and the sandwiches came soon after

$22 spent on food, $30 received in gift cards. Profit – $8

Last night we went there again to use the gift cards. The sandwiches didn’t take too long this time. But when they did arrive, there was a bug on my wife’s sandwich. So she went to take it back. The manager at that time was rude, and didn’t really talk to her. Just took her sandwich and walked to the kitchen. A while later and still no sandwich, my wife went to him again. Before she could say anything, he says "I’ll check on it" while he was at the register with another customer. My wife was pissed!

Eventually he came back and apologized for his rude behavior. And he gave us $20 in gift cards. He later brought the sandwich, but it was cold. So my wife took that back too. And she settled for a large soup and a pastry sandwich instead of that sandwich

$17 meal which was technically free because we used gift cards,$20 received in gift card. Profit – $37

My wife and I decided we’ll only come back to this restaurant with these gift cards, and not spend money there. But when we do come back, it’ll be just for soups and salads because they’re given to you immediately

moral of the story: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade… and then throw it in the face of the person who gave you the lemons until they give you the oranges you asked for in the first place!

Have a Nice Day!
