Justice League casting

Spoiler alert: This is really for comic book nerds, or comic book movie fans. If you don’t read them or watch them, there’s no hope that  there’s anything else being mentioned here, haha

I openly admit I love comics. Heck I openly admit my author name is to show my affection for professional wrestling legend, Mick Foley! 😛 (also why I leave ‘Have a Nice Day!’ in everything I write, hehe) I have the WWE Championship Belt from the Attitude Era hanging in my man cave because he held it. And as my Xmas gift, I asked my wife to get me a huge canvas print of The Incredible Hulk for my man cave’s superhero wall! He was fighting Wolverine in it. She also threw in another huge canvas print of Deadpool and Psylocke fighting Sentinels! Oh I love her… meaning my wife… Psylocke is cool too though 😛

Anyways, I just now saw that they casted Wonder Woman for the "Man of Steel" sequel. Batman will be in that as well, and I’m still not happy with the Ben Affleck casting. Although my disdain for that has gone down considerably, not that I believe in Ben Affleck but that I’ll give the director the benefit of the doubt

I wasn’t impressed with "Man of Steel", but I was curious how a sequel would go. Then after the Batman casting announcement I was less enthused in seeing the sequel, but not so much I groaned at the idea

But now with the Wonder Woman casting, I’m on the fence leaning towards groaning. Nothing against the Wonder Woman character, she’s essential for a later Justice League movie as planned. But introducing both her and Batman in a Superman sequel seems a bit much. We’ve all seen how throwing too many characters in a movie can be bad (see Spider-Man 3 and X-Men 3, oh and I didn’t like Dark Knight Rises’ lack of character development. Looks like Amazing Spider-Man 2 may have too much as well)

And they cast Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman? She’s easy on the eyes and all, but her acting is questionable at best. And her size? She probably can’t hit 100 lbs soaking wet. And she’s supposed to be the strongest amazon warrior? Standing her next to Henry Cavill she’ll look even scrawnier. I liked the Scarlett Johansson casting in Avengers because she actually has size to her and looks like she’d actually be able to fight (and she’s easy on the eyes, haha jk)

But Black Widow didn’t have superpowers. I mean Gal Gadot would have to bulk up to make it believable she has Wonder Woman’s strength. I know in the comic book world you suspend belief, but it’s a lot easier to if someone wasn’t so scrawny. Look at Thor’s and Superman’s casting.

I’ll still give the director the benefit of the doubt (lots of doubt now). It’s the planned beginning of a huge film universe which could break box office records. They have to know what they’re doing, they have to have people who double-check that they know what they’re doing, haha. DC wouldn’t want this this to fail while the Marvel Cinematic Universe keeps going strong

Enough ranting, I have to get this Friday work load going so it’s the weekend for me! I’ll save ranting about ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ for later…

moral of the story: You can’t judge a book by it’s covers. But you can see how thick or thin it is which tells you whether it’s strong and sturdy or flimsy 😛
