I’ll knock you off your pedestal…

I consider myself a model employee at my job. I do my work well (I’m the best in the world at what I do!), I help others with their work and I’ll do side projects when asked by my boss or other co-workers. My boss is a cool guy, he always asks nicely. The CFO, COO and other higher up people are nice too and ask politely. Then there’s the CNO (Chief Nursing Officer), who I’ve heard stories about. They say she’s not a pleasure to work with. I just laugh along when they talk about her but I give people the benefit of the doubt until I deal directly with them

And starting two weeks ago I’ve had to deal directly with her. I do a routine of daily morning reports that I mass email all the managers and other officials around the entire hospital. The CNO emails me two weeks ago about something, we’ll call it Problem A. She says there’s a flaw in the report and talking with her she told me about Solution A. Then right before I go ahead with Solution A someone else chimes in and points out actually Solution B is the correct solution, so I do that. The CNO was wrong with her Solution A theory. In all the communication with her, she never once actually asked for any help, they were direct "do this", "do that", lingo

Then the next week I get another email from her, a rude one at that. She was complaining about the same morning reports and this certain issue is going on (Problem B) and "you said you were making corrections and this has not happened yet". So again, never asked for any help or for me to do anything, just told me to, and added that quote. And this is for Problem B! There was no Problem B before! There was Problem A, I fixed that with the help of someone else who got it right because she had it wrong. So it pissed me off reading that quote. I DID make corrections to the ONLY problem we discussed, Problem A, so how was I supposed to know there was a completely separate issue going?

Then I get another email earlier this week also complaining about Problem B. Again, nothing nice in it or asking me for help on anything, only "when are you going to get this fixed?". The thing is it is fixed! I had already fixed it before that, but she didn’t understand it was fixed (which is consistent considering her solution to Problem A was wrong). So I replied with an email with lots of stats and the reports I get these stats from. Haven’t heard from her since. Not a single thank you, a please, or anything of that sort this entire time

My replies to her emails had to be edited numerous, numerous times before I sent them. I’m pretty sure that last one did have a very smart-ass tone to it (since I was proving her wrong). I’ll probably have to sit down with my boss for advice on dealing with people like that because I can’t. It’s not in my nature to be talked to like that without retribution. That’s actually why I stuck strictly to email because on the phone that wouldn’t have gone so well

On another note, way back when I was working in the surgery dept, I wrote about a 6’6" 300 lb nurse who was a loud mouth bully type. He tried to change a routine in the dept that affected me and I pretty much vetoed it because it wasn’t efficient and would slow my day down. So he came to my office and tried to convince me to change my stance, which I didn’t and I thoroughly explained why it didn’t make sense. To which he just got louder and stood up, put his hands on my desk and leaned over me as if that would change my mind. I still wouldn’t budge, kept a smirk on my face and he just left my office. Anyways, about a month later he got fired for downloading porn on his computer. Given his bully tactics, I bet he was downloading S&M stuff

moral of the story: They say life’s about choices, and the face of defeat I decline… Put your soul into everything, never back down, that’s how you leave a legacy behind

Have a Nice Day!
