Car prejudices
They say the vehicle a man drives tells you something about him. Apparently something about overcompensating. I don’t know how though, is it big SUV/pick-ups that show overcompensation? Or the sports cars? Or both? Blah, I told my friends back in college my dream car is actually a moped. So what does that make me? A buddy back then said, "Hung like a horse"
Anyways, so what do I drive? I drive a blue Mitsubishi Lancer. No, not the racing type of Lancer. Just the standard Lancer. I wanted one for the sole purpose (well another purpose is my family always drives Mitsubishis, we’re friends with the dealership here, haha) of gas mileage. I mean I can get to 40.1 miles per gallon in my morning commute to work. Who wouldn’t want that?
And at work, we all park in one of two parking garages. We’re assigned which garage and which floor to park on. I guess my bright blue Lancer can stick out compared to other cars. Sometimes somebody drives a bright yellow Lancer to that garage. Employees see each other in the garages so we see what each other drives. And I’ve actually been asked if the yellow Lancer is mine also!
Really? Because I’m Filipino with a blue Lancer, the yellow Lancer must be mine also? Haha, I find it funny some people believe the odds that two people own brightly colored Lancers is less likely than one single person having two brightly colored Lancers that he alternates driving to work
As for the drive home, my wife and I moved to the rich, suburban area outside of Houston. There’s some nice houses out here, and some of them could count as mansions. One really is, it’s 3 stories, a huge garage that fits at least 5 cars, tennis court, basketball court, pool on the outside, and no other house around. It’s just on its own with land all around it that should be a whole neighborhood
And of course with rich houses, you’ll see the rich cars. Mercedes, BMW’s, Porsches, you see them all around the parking lots in the shopping areas there. And I see them on my drive home. And I hate them!
Not because I’m jealous they have nicer cars. It’s just I hate them in the stop and go traffic on the way home. Yes those cars have super speed, but it’s useless in stop and go traffic! I don’t care how fast your car goes in the 5-10 yards before you have to stop again! It’s like a tease. When they take off I’m behind them thinking, "Oh the traffic must be back to normal, we can go fast again", and I’m right behind them then boom, hit the brakes hard.
Those drivers really do that. Hit the gas hard, hit the brake hard. Where are you going? Why go fast into a stop? Just coast and brake, coast and brake. No "ooh we’re finally taking off, errrr, no nevermind". I understand your car is fast, it can go 0-60 in a few seconds, but we don’t need to see how fast it goes in one second before you hit the brake to avoid hitting the car in front of you!
moral of the story: I forgot yesterday was Halloween, stupid month end close time for accountants. "Trick or treat / Smell my feet / Give me Scholl’s to odor eat / Give me sweets to over eat / and watch us kids all grow obese!"
Have a Nice Day!
