First Emergency Landing.

This was another exhausting week of more and more drama…I dont really want to focus on whats going on with Shelly (roomate) and I are having quite the tif right now…So basically I got into an emergency landing …my first ever…and this past monday.

Basically to explain what happens….MD80 aircraft have 3 source of electricity. 2 generators and 1 APU and on the way to Iowa 1 generator went dead…the girls and I were a little nervous to fly back but the pilots said it was fine. Durring our flight back to St.Petersburg the lights flashed and I got nervous we had the cart out and had JUST started to serve drinks and since 1 generator was down we were flying lower than usual and it was VERY bumpy since we were flying in the clouds instead of over them.

The pilots come over the PA and say we are landing in St.Louis because of electrical issues….I didnt get too nervous and actually I wasnt even that mentally prepared for an emergency…probably should have been thinking about it a little harder about such a thing…but I really dont doubt that I would have reacted fine in an emergency. I’m pretty calm durring emergency situations I usually react after the fact.

We land…fire trucks meet the plane…big drama..we unload the passengers…after we are in the airport and eating lunch waiting for another airplane to fly in to rescue us. The pilots finally told me everything that happened. 1 Generator was dead…then the APU went dead then the 2nd generator started to flicker…so basically we had almost no electricity on the plane….CRAZY. I should have been ready for an engine to catch on fire….I didnt even THINK about that…Holy crap…and I was the flight attendant in the back of the plane. SO I would have had to figure out something to calm down the passengers watching the engine catch on fire.

Lucky to be alive….YES.

RYN: I don’t care who they go with, I haven’t had any problems with AT&T so far (knock on wood)…that’s crazy about the plane! I can’t believe the pilots didn’t even let you girls in on it so you could at least have been partially prepared…I was just in St Louis this weekend!
