INDIVIDUALITY, it’s All The Rage, For Now Anyways

Everywhere I look there is something that’s telling me to be myself, to be an individual. It’s driving me crazy, and I believe I have tackled this issue before, but with a different approach. On television there are commercials telling us to be ourselves, am I the only one who sees the irony in this? They are making it into a trend, can you see that. How many times have you heard “hey be yourself, by the way, buy this perfume, it’s what Britney spears wears” on TV. I don’t know about you but that seems really stupid to me, to use the same exact thing that mocks individuality to bring individuality into society. The way I see it, the day that colorful box of glory was invented individuality went right out the window. This came to me as I was trying to go to sleep last night, it seemed very funny to me that they had to advertise individuality, does anyone see where I’m going with this, to make individuality into a trend is just sad, sad for our crumbling society. I can just see it now “hey man, are you being yourself? Well you should be trying to, cause individuality is in, it’s all the rage man, and you ain’t cool unless you’re an individual man.” Perhaps they can even give it a name like they have given the Goths and the scene kids (this is particularly sad because I heard my 7 year old cousin say “hey, that kid looks so scene.” and although I’m just 18 I didn’t know what that meant, I had to go google it so I wouldn’t look stupid), but does anyone see what I’m getting at, individuality is becoming just another trend. Now to me that’s hilarious, I never saw that coming. It just doesn’t work out in the logical point of view. On a more fun note: “Be yourself, stay above the influence, but remember you’re not cool unless you have the new PS3, the people who don’t have the PS3, bunch of Goths that’s what they are”. Take into prospect I am a Goth (or I at least consider myself to be one) so it’s ok for me to make fun of the Goth trend, it’s like the FAG and JEW issue. And that was purely mentioned for my amusement on how we put people into different categories and feel free to judge them. HAHA, this whole entry has been one big sarcastic scar that I shall wear for the next few days. I’ll try to make sure not to pick at the scab, but I can’t guarantee it.
