Wesboro Baptist Church
I don’t know if many of you have seen the tragedy that happened in Pennsylvania in which 7 children died in a house fire on a dairy farm. It happened in a very nearby community to mine. The tragedy alone is sad enough, but add in Westboro and its just sickening. They’re planning to come picket the viewings and funeral. I just cannot understand it. Its as if they see that a funeral has made headlines so they must go and disturb the grieving families.
I understand all about the First Amendment rights but there has got to be something that can be done about them disturbing functions such as funerals. Its just not right. I am so enraged by their plans to show up.
I remember when I was in college they would always show up in the area…and I don’t get it? Why here? What is in PA that draws them here? Relatively its a pretty conservative area. Not that it makes it better for them to go into a more open area and do the same things, but I just don’t get why they are so drawn to this area?!?
When I heard they were coming to these funerals i literally felt nauseous. OMG. I want to punch Fred Phelps in the face.
The community is planning on making a human barricade to shield their blaring signs and disgusting faces from the family and friends. I may go.
Their viewing is tues. night and the funeral is wed. morning. If you’re the praying type, I’m sure the family and everyone would appreciate it.
May not be the most appropriate time, but… dayum, superwoman. ;P

I think there are a lot of us locally who are thinking about going. Not to be violent, but to support the family and ultimately stop them. What they are doing is not right.

They’re a bunch of sick jerks that enjoy the spot light and making other people suffer.

Don’t even get me started on those people.

I read about that tragedy in the news. That was horrible! I think it’s so inappropriate for that so-called church to use other peoples’ grief to spread their brand of hate. I wish organizations would start protesting and picketing their church services. Staying on public property, of course! 😉 Maybe play a little gay-friendly music outside their services. I’m thinking the soundtrack from the Rocky Horror Picture Show might be a good start…
